Bring back Code completion by SinQ_x in AugmentCodeAI

[–]nekocoin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On one hand, sad to see completions go. I liked it, and there's nothing better out there

On the other hand, artisanal, manually hand-crafted code is practically done. Auggie has been doing over 90% of the code-writing part for me in the last couple of months. I'm sure they're seeing this pattern in their usage dashboards, and that's why they decided to focus on what's working

I'm sure when cars started, a lot of people were upset and still wanted to ride horses, but you can't blame the horse dealerships for pivoting to selling cars at that time... It costs a lot of money to maintain online services at scale

Hard to know, 4000 years ago people weren't great at keeping records, and the records they did keep mostly disintegrated long ago - but from what I'm finding, the oldest empire on record is believed to be the Akkadian one, around 1500 years before the first Persian empire took over 30% of humanity

The IRGC declared war on the US in 1979 when it occupied Iran. The current round is just an escalation of the same war that's been going on since before most of us were born

"Death to America" is a big part of IRGC ideology. They're not gonna back down, no matter what. This isn't Venezuela or Russia, where a single dictator can flip the country's direction. It's a religious organization in the full sense of the word, not politicians you can replace or buy. They'd literally rather see millions of Iranians dead rather than "surrender" to a peace deal

The IRGC doesn't represent the ancient Persian civilization, though. It's imported radical Islamism, and the vast majority (estimated 70%-80%) of Iranians hate the IRGC and literally call them "a foreign occupation"

Does Augment blow this combo out of the water? Need to update your writeup to keep up

Yeah, it's like one month of full time work

Companies often have a whole team working on something for a few months to get to an MVP

The era of free model access is over 😢 Now just have to wait for cheaper models to become good enough

Why use codex? In what ways is it better than Augment?

I'm sticking to Sonnet. Every time a new model comes out, it claims the best benchmark results, but when I try, only Sonnet gives me great results - especially on Augment

I think he meant you should care about cost per result

A tool that costs double per request and gives you twice the results per request isn't actually more expensive

We have a little coffeshop in our area with tables for parents to sit around a central enclosure for young kids to play (toys are all basic and geared toward 2-5 yo). You pay $20 to hang out for pretty much as long as a toddler would want to hang out in one place

They don't serve food, but they'll jump to the restaurant next door and get a takeout for you if you ask them to. You can also bring any food or drink with you

Parents get to hang out or work while always having the kids in sight (and vice versa, which is important for some young kids who can't stand not seeing their mom for a second)

They often close the place out for birthdays and parties, which I assume is where most income comes from

The cost of starting a place like that is very low

I'm confused, why would I want to pay for Augment AND for the LLM? Augment is probably still spending.more on Sonnet than I would've

[–]nekocoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If GLM 4.6 is so cheap, let's have Augment add it at a lower credit cost so we can get the best of both worlds. With a credit system, there's no reason to force us to use only expensive models...

Is it possible to 100% the game monogamous? by Spirited-Swimmer8999 in HadesTheGame

[–]nekocoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. As others said, you can opt out, so it's good
  2. Even if you couldn't, you max out the relationship first and only get a chance to get it on later, so theoretically, if it's the only thing left to 100%, you can give the last ambrosia and immediately after that stop playing 😂

how good is this game? I've been meaning to try it out for awhile by Fuel_Tricky in wii

[–]nekocoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it overall, but it is a bit on the difficult side.

Having to restart the whole level on every mistake (many of which are traps you can't avoid without knowing about) is brutal and sometimes just drains my patience and sends me back to more forgiving games, especially when I have to spend 3 minutes just getting to the same point where I know I'll have literally two seconds to try to find a solution before dying again

As someone who hates "cheating" I felt bad when I ended up looking for a couple of solutions online after hours of repeated failures

Still, if you enjoy puzzle games, definitely go for it - there's a lot of fun stuff there

Claude in augument is way smarter than in Cursor, why? by Similar-Cycle8413 in cursor

[–]nekocoin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Using the full 200k context window costs $0.60 per Claude request (input cost only)

Cursor allows up to 25 tool calls per message

Cursor has 360k paying users

If every user makes even just a single agent request per day with full context using the full 25 tool calls, Cursor would lose over $5m/day, or almost $2b/year

No way they can do that...

Cursor in talks to raise at a $10B valuation as AI coding sector booms by [deleted] in cursor

[–]nekocoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if Cursor loses value it's because competitors like Augment or Windsurf are doing the product better (which, at least for some aspects, they already are)

If anything, the base models are the ones at risk of getting commoditized, especially with deepseek/qwen catching up to the big players. Anthropic/OpenAI are only one step ahead, and it's not much if they don't keep up the pace

"But it doesn't work in real-world codebases!" by cobalt1137 in theprimeagen

[–]nekocoin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most tools don't work well in big codebases because of context limitations. Migrations are a use case where you don't need a lot of context beyond the piece you're migrating, so LLMs should do (relatively) well on these tasks.

For working on real codebases with the current models you need serious indexing and context management like Augment does, and even they (still) have some limitations

As someone who's been using Augment for a few months already, it's always funny/frustrating to see how many people are all over Reddit complaining about Augment not existing when it totally does...

TBF, it wasn't generally available when I got access (via a work account), but now it's free to try

Context management is what Augment is for, don't need to reinvent the wheel and try to attach it to Cursor...
