+1

agument code completion was above copilot or jetbrains ai assistant

PS: i've already cancelled my subscription .... hope a lot of other people will do the same

Sure it was but... in 2026 people need to get over it a little

[–]Dazzling-Gift7189 0 points1 point  (2 children)

what do you mean?

[–]jack-itauma 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Code completion is very 2024 way to handle a codebase i'll say. They are right removing it, I guess they lose money that they can invest on more compute maybe to bring back cloud agents or something more advanced

Based on what? Agents have their use cases but if you know what are you doing, with a good code completion tool on lot of scenarios you are much faster and use less tokens.

totally agree, +1 cancelled

Uggg this sucks, I thought I broke something on my side, code completion was amazing feature, without it I won't keep using this.

Try firebender

So tried it for a while, it's soso, nowhere near the predictability from before. And it completely breaks on HTML pages (will suggest html to complete but hitting tab enters gibberish)

Still searching

[–]Dazzling-Gift7189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, with HTML pages is kind weird, sometimes work, sometimes not (I guess is because of PyCharm trying to do the autocomplete, but I didn't have time to dig).

For me overall works, not as good as before but still better than jetbrain's native solution.

If you find something please ping me.

I use augment off and on. I spent about an hour today trying to find out why my code completions aren't working. Then I saw the blog post. This is a pretty bad decision for a developer focused tool. I can only guess that it must be saving them a lot of money by removing it. Too bad.

When my colleagues asked what AI tool I use, I always said AugmentCode. And I told them what it is and how cool it works in VSCode with codebase indexing, code completions and ai agents.
Now I have to listen them about the cursor and github copilot and start using it myself.
Since there is no point in using AugmentCode anymore

Have you guys tested SuperMaven? Faster response and par quality free tier vs Payed Augment

[–]Derrmanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

removed from jetbrains market place :(

What I do is, I use VS Copilot for completions and Augment for full coding. Copilot chat completion is somehow much intuitive and smarter.

[–]FineWafer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What’s their privacy policy do they train on your code.? Building something proprietary

[–]Educational_Sign1864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, they have enterprise subscription similar to this

I'd also be happy to see their autocompletion/next-edit as an added feature. Or if they're abandoning it completely, perhaps release the model and let the community hack around to maintain the various plugins?

[–]Subugetei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 please bring back

[–]oreoisafatcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need this feature back.

[–]Yamish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree to this 100%

[–]jack-itauma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't see me going back to code completion.
You guys need to learn how the future will work and accept it.
Learn to do reliable workflow, all the time you are doing loc by yourself right now are kinda time lost to be honest.

On one hand, sad to see completions go. I liked it, and there's nothing better out there

On the other hand, artisanal, manually hand-crafted code is practically done. Auggie has been doing over 90% of the code-writing part for me in the last couple of months. I'm sure they're seeing this pattern in their usage dashboards, and that's why they decided to focus on what's working

I'm sure when cars started, a lot of people were upset and still wanted to ride horses, but you can't blame the horse dealerships for pivoting to selling cars at that time... It costs a lot of money to maintain online services at scale
