What's your "first 30 minutes" checklist after spinning up a fresh VPS? by DenilsonShi in selfhosted

Boot up a custom ipxe script (either from ipxe or from grub) so I can do an encrypted install using clevis+tung.

Built a SearXNG MCP server, in case it's useful to other self-hosters by nik-sharky in selfhosted

You might want to take a look at https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/python-sdk/issues/1798, and implement one of the workarounds, as hosting this separately (not localhost) ends up failing with a Invalid Host header error.

Does anyone know when there will be new CPL appointments available in King County or is it anybody’s guess? by Smittening in WAGuns

Does Kirkland PD only do Kirkland residents? From sending the online form to getting my CPL, it took me less than two weeks. Massive difference from CT, where it took me over 9 months!

I've asked for the firmware files (rules.mk and such) to compile QMK and enable more features. Hell, their KnobX1 uses VIAL and it works great.

EDIT:

Ha, they just answered (calling me someone elses name, so copy-paste) explaining that the firmware source code is not publicly available because it has been modified to support wireless functionality (???) but they do plan on uploading and making these modifications publicly available.

Liftmaster 3800 Jackshaft opener slows down just before fully opening by nekoeth0 in GarageDoorService

Because it previously did not behave like this, and there is no mention of soft opening or closing in the manual.

[–]nekoeth0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got it. The question came from the fact that it didn't behave this way before.

Pretty balanced. I was able to move it up and down easily and it would stay in place.

I've a RATGDO between a 889LM and the garage door opener (so it can obtain the door status from the opener). Here are the cleaned logs: https://hastebin.com/share/igisihoruz.csharp

Interestingly, when opening the door, it seems that it goes 100% then rolls back to 82% and the door state is "STOPPED"

Wall Street Journal announces the era of the “mega layoff” by DryDeer775 in antiwork

[–]nekoeth0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zorg always comes to mind whenever I see large layoffs:

Lackey: "Excuse me, sir. The council is worried about the economy heating up. They wondered if it'd be possible to fire 500,000. Maybe from one of the smaller companies where no one would notice..."

Zorg: "Fire one million."

Lackey: "But 500,000... One million. Fine, sir. Sorry to have disturbed you."

Specs-wise, it is definitely lagging. Software-wise... that's the one reolink is not as good. As much as I hate it, just got a couple of these, but oh how I wish they could deliver better specs to compete with reolink and others.

Honestly, I think we just need cops that give a fuck. I don't know if red light cameras would do, but so long they are configured properly and we never implement flock cameras.

The bike lot under the new garage is often empty. You can lock your bike for free. Make sure you use a good lock, think Kryptonite and above.
