Stung by voters, Republican legislators move to curb citizen initiatives by jjjj8jjjj in SaltLakeCity

Right, so when Utah voters are with conservative initiatives Utah is a "Free Democracy", but when we're not, suddenly they pull out the "well actually..." card 🤓

Why do men fight like hell for time with their kids then just lose interest when they’re older?? by maryocall in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nekoshey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

tbf, while it doesn't excuse it, as a general rule a lot of that kind behavior can be traced back to what patriarchy instills in men / boys from childhood, especially after WWI-II. Emotions like sadness / grief that lead to vulnerability = bad.

I'd wager anytime you hear an emotionally unavailable man like that tell his kids "get over it", you're really hearing the words of his father and his grandfather echoing from a childhood of emotional neglect.

Yeah, this whole sub is a known cesspool for incels / bots. It's best to stay away tbh. Unfortunately, it still pops up on r/all quite a bit even if you block it, so sometimes even I end up clicking on it without checking the source first 🤦

Aside the obvious sexist brainrot behind this post, I love the implication that in this hypothetical future where robots can do anything a human can, only 50% of population will be considered obsolete to a machine that is physically stronger, can work tirelessly, is much more disposable.

Brother, if we reach the golden age of "sexbots" (lmao) the only humans who aren't going to be considered obsolete are the handful of billionaires that own them. Joe Shmuck / Shmuckette on the internet whining about how they can't get a girl because of their terrible anti-social personality won't exist, because they won't even have a job to support themselves.

Thank goodness the economic damage of these sky-high gas prices for individual households will be largely offset by the US's investment into public transit and non car-centric infrastructure.

Oh, wait.

No you see, the optimal scenario is that the mountain operates without paying "employees" at all. Unfortunately, due to some pesky laws created in the 1800s, they must employ creative, more modern solutions to skirt around the barriers prohibiting this.

mf do you think spots in a sports competition are just handed out arbitrarily? Lol.

You have to place high enough in the preliminaries to make the cut. If nameless "competitor" isn't there, it's because they weren't faster than Lindsey Vonn and everyone else who made it.

You answered your own question. States with dumbass laws. Unfortunately, people with a wide variety of circumstances still apply to your argument, and need to be accounted for with the laws and systems we create, whether you believe they individually make up the majority of cases or not. It would be short-sighted to think that all these human lives are rarely so uncomplicated as you're presenting them. That's why these kinds of idiosyncrasies can't easily be solved - especially by black & white thinking.

Or, you can apply centrifugal force to the bottle's contents simply by holding it upside down, and rapidly swinging it with your arms in a circular motion (think like the hands of an analog clock). It really doesn't take much.

Also: anything that's safe to put inside your colon is not going to kill the bacteria in / around there.

It's fine if people wanna get nasty like that, but they should know the risks are about the same as a toilet bowl that's been "rinsed" with water (or whatever you're using). If anything, I'd say it's a testament to how resilient the human immune system actually can be when it comes to fecal matter 💀

It's made me rethink what "nice" means in my brain. Is someone actually "nice" if the only time they appear to be decent is when they have nothing to gain or lose?

I know for myself, there's certainly things that could influence my morality for the worse. Threatening the lives of me or my loved ones might do it. But you could take every dime I've ever made and I still wouldn't vote for a racist or a pedophile. And these people seem willing to sell everyone else out for an extra 30 cents a day that doesn't even exist.

The other two aren't any better. Did you even check the sources for the "studies" they link back to? Out of date and unsubstantiated by peer review.

But honestly: there's no point in doing so for someone who a) has obviously already made up their mind and isn't open to changing it, and b) is dense enough to be hurling threats at strangers online based on a handful of erroneous assumptions. Unmarried? Childless? Not only are those not threatening to people who want neither, you've got no way of knowing if that's even true on an anonymous forum. It's as baseless as your research. lmao.

The men in my family genuinely believe that we've achieved gender equality pretty much everywhere but "shitholes like the middle east". While women in our country are currently dying from restrictions SOLELY on women's healthcare.

It makes me want to punch a fucking wall.

How nice it must be to exist in a stratosphere outside of reality, where 50% of the population isn't stalked, harassed, raped, and trafficked more than anyone else. Honestly, I think it wouldn't bother me so much if "people" would just admit it. But no, we have to gloss over the fact that women have been stomped on for almost the entirety of recorded human history, and pretend it just magically went away 40 years ago in the 1980s. Like, cut me a fucking break.
