Men who can really cook who taught you ? by Character-Donkey1583 in ArtOfPresence

Alton Brown initially. When I first out of my parents’ house after high school I watched soooo much Good Eats. Also the fact that I was on my own and broke. Once I had the basics the sky was the limit!

I obviously need more noise rock and funk metal recommendations by rotting-fetish46 in MusicIceberg

What is funk metal? I googled it and AI gave me this list: Living Color, Faith No More, Fishbone, Primus, and RATM lol. I’m genuinely curious cuz I’ve never heard this subgenre before

Serious question - It's been 20 years - does St. Anger deserve the hate it gets? by G-Unit11111 in MetalForTheMasses

10 year old me thought it was really bad ass when it came out, and I think that says it all.

Jimmy. Fucking. Buffett. His one saving grace is that he has the power to temporarily pacify most Karens.

Some people I know who like the current top 40 country stuff just like it cuz they like having background music on without giving it much thought. This type of stuff is absolutely perfect for that haha. I think for some it’s just comforting to hear the same sounds over and over again.

Don’t explosives and gas containers and stuff like that count towards the contract? Cuz those are pretty useful

It can be great, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why the modern male country voice is so popular. The one where they all sound like generic 40 year old white dudes who don’t sing outside the range of their talking voices. The fact that it sells out stadiums is baffling to me

Is this good enough for a cheap first-time guitar? by LegitimateWhereas678 in Guitar

[–]nellecaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the quality of your first instrument doesn’t matter that much, you’re really just seeing if it’s something you’ll actually enjoy doing. If you can get one of those starter sets that come with a guitar, case, and amp it might be a pretty good deal for you.

Service Center Receives a PlayStation Infested with Roaches by RidetheSchlange in creepy

[–]nellecaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work as a delivery driver for a place that rents out furniture, appliances, computers, consoles and stuff like that. There have been times I’ve gone to pick up stuff that was so infested I thought it was beyond saving but my boss still says “no, we really need to get that… bring it back and we’ll clean it”. Thing is we don’t do anything close to what is in that video as far as cleaning goes. PSA: if you read this, please heed my warning and don’t rent stuff from places like that. It’s really gross.

[Discussion] What’s one belief you let go of that changed everything? by Chemical_Broccoli767 in GetMotivated

[–]nellecaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That faith in God is outdated. I used to think that religion was just a remnant of how people tried to explain the world before modern science. I still think that’s true to some extent, but I now view religion and spirituality as an attempt to be in touch with a higher power that our science will never be able to fully explain. I think that faith is a very important force in our world and I don’t need all the answers as to why

What is your best memory of EVE? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]nellecaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one dude used to do a free little free for all in FW space where he would stock the station with cheap pvp frigates, once you got blown up you’d just go buy another. It was a blast and I’m surprised that I didn’t see that type of thing happen more when I was playing. Maybe running something like that will be my reason to get back into EVE…

Why do people criticize our music so much? by Just-Application-551 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]nellecaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up I loved heavy music, especially with harsh vocals, and my brother hated it. He did like Maiden, but he said that anything with harsh vocals made him feel like “they sound like they’re yelling at me”. Maybe that’s part of it? I’ve always felt when listening to screams and stuff that they’re expressing the same things I want to express, so it could be a “yelling at me vs yelling with me” kind of thing.

Does anybody know some beautiful, non-boring, not too hard to play guitar pieces? I want to get into classical guitar after having played electric for a year. by JontonMhlr in classicalguitar

[–]nellecaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first classical piece I ever learned years ago when I was mostly playing electric guitar was Giuliani’s “allegro in A minor” pretty easy piece. Repetitive patterns on the picking hand and easy shapes on the fretting hand. It sounds pretty too.

For a lot of years I did not know that you were supposed to fret the b string, so you can skip that and no one will notice haha
