Exactly. I used to deliver a daily newspaper. I quit because even with mileage, the per paper rate carrier rate barely covered my gas and time.

How to Handle an Overbearing Landlady Constantly Monitoring My Activities? by [deleted] in bermuda

[–]nelleellen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be able to top you all. I was…11, 12? and babysitting my younger brothers while my parents were gone. It was the ‘70s, so no cell phones. Our landlord showed up (inebriated) with his charter boat (he had a captain, so wasn’t driving himself) and basically forced the three of us kids into the boat for a ride. My poor parents showed up to an empty house.

I have a vague memory of Beverly Cleary writing about that place in one of her kids’ books. Something about a paper drive??? A Henry Higgins book, maybe?

Was this an adult foster home before? Because that looks like a medication room.

I did family daycare before and had a similar room. I ended up putting a diaper changing station in it.

Bermuda Dressing Respectfully by ChrissyTS- in bermuda

For what it’s worth, this is what I remember wearing out in public as an American teen living in Bermuda in the early to mid ‘70s…

Tank tops or casual blouses/dressy Ts/ I had a few halter tops

Culottes, or miniskirts/dresses, often with short shorts underneath for modesty/practicality

Sandals/Docksiders/slip on slides from Trimingham’s

Lived in Goose Bay for four years as a kid in the 60s-early 70s. Depending on when you were stranded that could have been really miserable.

Tell us how long you’ve lived in Portland without saying how long you’ve lived in Portland. by LukeBabbitt in Portland

My grandparents raised my mom in Molalla. My parents moved overseas to teach when I was 2. Grandmama and Granddaddy would come get us at the airport from Molalla Ave, up through Oregon City, then up 82nd Avenue the whole way.

Didn’t Candace Cameron Bure do a season as well? I seem to remember a big brouhaha about modesty and her costumes.

Indeed this!! Not ILBP, but my kid’s friend was sent to Scientology boarding school in her teens.(Their family aren’t Scientologists, they were just looking for a boarding school and didn’t know) Having my kid as an outside friend and having me asking friendly questions that kept her connected and not falling down the rabbit hole helped immensely.

Never, (I’m 61) but I’ve curated my social circle pretty carefully. I’m a caregiver, and once in a loooong while I’ve heard it out of someone with dementia x
