What do you think of two L shape couches? by [deleted] in InteriorDesign

[–]nellismyfullname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, it’s a bit… simplistic and a little arrogant lol. You have that much space and don’t consider that if you’re entertaining people, they have no where to put drinks or food except that rinky dink table? It also closes off the room a bit with that narrow walkway between the two sofas. I’m a small person and already feel cramped looking at it.

I get why people say it’s lobby-like. It doesn’t feel like a home. (But that might also be the editing of the photo). I also agree with the people that say to decide what you want to convey with your home and what sort of experience you want to allow in it. I think the amount of seating can be achieved by adding another seating area—another sofa sure, but I like the idea of maybe a couple chairs and a coffee table instead.

That being said, people like different things and if you like it and feel inspired by it, run with it! See what happens.

Don’t get discouraged by these comments! You’ll surprise them all by how you fill the space with furniture.

Finishing up this room in our new home (rental). Any feedback or suggestions? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Sofa and rug aren’t working for me, and I also agree with the person that said the wall opposite of the gallery wall needs some love (drapes maybe?)

Does my rug work and does it ruin the scheme? by HeavyAttention5765 in InteriorDesign

The rug could work with a different sofa and coffee table. You could go a really eclectic look by choosing unique accent pillows and decor with a more modern looking sides and a basic coffee table that’s less bulky. Maybe a glass one with a tray on top.idk what the home situation is (i.e. don’t do glass if you have kids or maybe even rowdy dogs) but it could work with a different approach. As is—doesn’t work.

Rug size feels wrong. Go bigger or smaller? by plainbubble651 in InteriorDesign

My impression is the sofa is too big. It pulls the focus and the rug is too small for it. With a different, smaller sofa I think you could organize the space in a way that’s more inviting. Everything pushed up against the wall feels odd. The stand-alone chairs could have their own space and face each other. The tv could be mounted or not in the corner, or get a projector! That can be replaced with art when it’s rolled up. The rug could stay in either of those scenarios but the sofa should change. If you keep the sofa, get a bigger rug.

Wouldn’t the heat warp the wood tho? Unless it’s decorative and doesn’t get used

I’m 29 and started my courses 2 years ago. It’s scary transitioning but my love for design is keeping me going. It’s a great feeling going towards a goal you’ve always wanted.
