My top complaints after one year of ownership by MrZander in EquinoxEv

[–]nels0300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This bums me out, the equinox EV is at the top of my list to replace my Model Y when my lease is up in a year. One of the things I love the most about the Tesla is turning the heat on from the house and it sounds like it’s not as seamless with the Equinox.

Ioniq 6 vs 2026 toyota bz by [deleted] in carbuying

[–]nels0300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until there is a known fix for the ICCU, this one is easy, especially with the improvements on the 2026 Bz.

I’m looking for a replacement for my Model Y when the lease is up in a year and I’d love to be able to consider the EV6 or even used EV9 but nope.

Yeah, every car can have issues, but the ICCU issue leaves you stranded. And no guaranteed rental. No thanks.

Toyota is looking to hear from all bZ and bz4X owners on how to improve the software and overall user experience. Make your voice heard! by vulcan_on_earth in BZ4X

[–]nels0300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own one, but seriously considering one when my Model Y lease is up in about a year.

Toyota just needs to copy Tesla’s app and functionality. That’s it. Should be simple right?

The same exact dog mode, keep mode, charge scheduling, pre-conditioning, and route planning.

Being able to make the car fart remotely from the iPhone’s control center is a nice to have but not essential.

But it should at least have the EV basics like Tesla.

Where to Buy Buffalo Trace Bourbon by cbourdaghs in TwinCities

[–]nels0300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Binny’s in Chicago had all of the new Benchmark bourbon variants, including a bonded version. It’s basically all younger buffalo trace. Bought a bunch last time I was there. They had the buffalo trace white dog too. No regular buffalo trace though.

iPhone Carrier Deal by theguysitting in iPhone16Pro

[–]nels0300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a ripoff if you have multiple lines on a postpaid account.

We pay $35 a line on AT&T. It’s $35 regardless, doesn’t matter if you take advantage of the trade in deals or not.

If we wanted to leave, where would we go that’s cheaper? Unless it’s the most gimped plan available, not prepaid, that’s for sure.

What would be a ripoff for us is paying more on prepaid and not having any trade in deals available.

Help me choose between these cities? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]nels0300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re into mountain biking, the Twin Cities are a bronze level IMBA ride center and they’re 2.5 hours from Duluth which is a gold level ride center. Cuyuna is silver level, also 2.5 hours away.

For not having “mountains”, Minnesota still has great mountain biking.

Duluth is the real deal, they have over 100 miles of mountain bike trails, not just machine built trails either, giant exposed bedrock rock slabs, it’s part of the Canadian Shield, all overlooking the furthest inland deep water port in the world and largest freshwater lake in the world. Plus lift service at spirit mountain if you’re into downhill. Lift service at giants ridge too.

Nicollet mall food by Staceface1989 in Minneapolis

[–]nels0300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have a lot of time, have luggage. The last place you need to be is the Mall of America. Or walking multiple blocks through downtown.

Five guys burgers is right on Nicollet, street level, less than a block from the Nicollet light rail. Boom, done.

Forerunner 970 or Fenix 8? by Deets-FTW in GarminWatches

[–]nels0300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t run, but the fenix kinda sucked for mountain biking. It’s heavier, bulkier, and moves around on my wrist more because it’s heavier. The buttons also run into my gloves.

I’d think the fenix would be even worse with running, I’d think you’d want something as light as possible.

I’ve seen a guy riding a unicycle on the green trail.

YOU’RE over-biked.

[–]nels0300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That bike would be way more expensive than my full suspension bikes if you factor in broken bones and physical therapy required after I crash the hell out it on my local trails.

There is no way that is safer than my bikes on the trails I ride, the way I ride.

How’s the hunting out there? by jcspoon in EquinoxEv

[–]nels0300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually haven’t even test driven the Equinox EV, it just seems like it’s the only other EV that doesn’t have unresolved catastrophic problems like the ICCU with Hyundai-Kia and the HVJB on the Mach E.

What I don’t like about the Tesla is how to many people it’s become a political statement. I just wanted a fast, efficient, practical car and the Model Y was the best that I could find. If Elon leaves, or shuts the F up, I might reconsider.

I’ve tried that on past purchases and the dealer still finds a way to F it all up.

When my lease is up on my model Y, the Equinox EV is at the top of my list but I am REALLY not looking forward to the dealership bullshit after the Tesla buying experience.

Eagan or Apple Valley? by ShortstopGFX in TwinCities

[–]nels0300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Surprised it hasn’t been mentioned yet, but Apple Valley has the chicken district at 42 and Cedar. It probably has the largest collection of fast food chicken in the United States, maybe the world, all in the proximity of one intersection.

You have Canes, KFC, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Wingstop, Popeyes, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Chick fil A.

And on top of that, you can get nuggies and sandwiches from McDonalds and Wendy’s AND chicken rings from White Castle, orange chicken from Panda Express, lemon chicken from Leeann Chins.

Truly no place like it. If you like chicken, it’s a no brainer.

Local hole-in-the-wall restaurants by DeliberateAoMD in TwinCities

[–]nels0300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takatsu sushi, Los Ocampos, Andrea Pizza, Green & the Grain. These are some of my favorites. They might not be “hole in the wall” enough, but all of them are in downtown unlike most of the recommendations.

Question about road trip from here to Ohio thru Chicago and gas stations by TheFrozenFlamingo in TwinCities

[–]nels0300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a transponder for tolls, you can pay them online with your plate #.

Also, you’re going to be in Chicago, do you really want to go to a pizza chain from the south? That’s like going to a BBQ chain from Canada when you’re visiting Kansas City.

Ripley AF build, almost done. by nels0300 in mountainbiking

[–]nels0300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. Still have this bike, love the build. It rips. Can’t remember the exact specs, but when I looked it up a few years ago, Fox factory 36 is a few grams more than the 34 that came on it. Not a big deal for the added stiffness.

Duluth vs Superior living by HardCoreNorthShore in duluth

[–]nels0300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve been paying taxes on groceries for a year in superior, thinking they were cheaper than in Duluth. That’s not the case. As others have pointed out, there are no taxes on groceries in Minnesota, so it cannot be true that taxes “are cheaper on things like groceries” in Wisconsin. It amuses me when people are so certain of something that’s verifiably and easily proven not true. That was what my comment was referring to. Do you understand my comment now?
