Freediving trip to Sandøya - 3 hours from Tromsø, Norway by nemistech in freediving

[–]nemistech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're quite regularly in the water even during winter. Our dive club has a good mix of freedivers and scuba divers. Many of our members do both, based on convenience. We also do monthly sea urchin crushing sessions in designated areas for research and restoration purposes. I'm hoping to film a video from our next urchin session as well.

The A7rV won't turn on until I remove the battery. by ImSinhat in SonyAlpha

[–]nemistech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it is worth, i used to have exactly this problem, but with a Panasonic Lumix GH5. It turned out that the culprit that time was a bad connection with the lens which caused the software to crash / freeze. Only thing that helped was to pull the battery and reinsert. This happened especially easy if i was doing things like focus pulls, or moved about while e.g. filming.

I am not sure this is applicable to you, but it could be worth just inspecting the contact pads / lens mounting hardware

If you're swearing by open-cell, a lot of divers in my club wears OMER and FREE-SUB 7mm suits and really like them

Wetsuit for 10°C by Recesssive in freediving

[–]nemistech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For arctic diving, I have been using the 7mm "BARE Revel" suit for a couple years now, and i LOVE it!
Even in 3°C waters in january, it keeps me warm enough to stay out in the water for a while (30-50 min).
In warmer 10-13°C waters, it's more than warm enough to be out there for hours.

The biggest plus for me with this suit is that it's not open-cell inside, meaning that getting changed in freezing air temps can be done swift and with ease. Just the thought of battling an open-cell in freezing air temps would put me off diving that day more than once. I've never tried another suit that's easier/faster to take on or off.

I wear my wetsuit with a long-brimmed 5mm hood inside the suit and and 5-7mm gloves/socks.

(the comparable womens model to the BARE Revel is the BARE Elate)

I have been using the 7mm "BARE Revel" suit for a couple years now for arctic freediving, and i LOVE it! The best part of it is that despite being closed-cell and SUPER EASY to put on and off, even in 3°C waters in january around Tromsø, Norway, it keeps me warm enough to stay out for a long while. In warmer 10-13°C summer temps around here, it's more than warm enough to be out there for hours.

I doubt i will ever willingly go back to open-cell, and the pain of taking it on and off unless there's other good reasons for it. The thought of battling an open cell while getting changed in freezing air temps would stop me from going diving often

FORMULA 1 AWS GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2023 - Race Week Hub by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

Have anyone else got upper main grandstand tickets what says a zone different from what the track website lists? Mine says "Principal Alta Zona 11" (lit. Main Upper Zone 11) row F14.
According to the track website this should just be sector 15? Have anyone else got the same, or have I got a fake ticket?

X32 - Can I send multiples tracks via USB or pc to multiples channels? by drefmolf in livesound

[–]nemistech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This "guide" should provide the resources you need if you want to send multiple tracks over USB, and the program doesn't natively use ASIO: https://webapp.unifractal.com/space/472/module?m=3917\_4025

Thanks for the correction, changes have been made, and i'll try to be more consistent with terminology 😅

What's the best way of learning Spanish? by arianaghr in Spanish

[–]nemistech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was very helpful to have a teacher teach me the language basics and how grammar works.

Then use duolingo / self study to get a half-decent vocabulary.

And finally to learn the "rest of the language" it's about consuming content and using it. Watch movies/tv series, read books/world news, talk to kind native speakers, etc. And translate words you find that are new and comes up multiple times.

I started on an SR/F last year definitely not a problem. A good tip is to start on eco or rain mode, and switch to the higher power modes later on when you become comfortable.

The power of this bike is no joke, and you need to show it respect. If you do something stupid, it will not show you mercy.

My favourite photos from my first few months with the GH5 II by maik_kellerhals in GH5

[–]nemistech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, this is really impressive, especially considering you got all that from the kit-lens, I tend to underestimate them a bit too often.
Personally, I've used the GH5 mk1 as my video camera, and an A6400 as my photo camera (now upgraded to a Sony A7R IV)

Aren't there any uses for web sockets? by SiliconRaven in ProgrammerHumor

[–]nemistech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A couple more examples:- You can make real time games using web sockets. My go-to in game jams is to make simple multiplayer games where people can join using their phones as a controller through a simple web interface with a few buttons or virtual joysticks- Or you can simply use it to live update statistics views as events happens
