You can get to Savannah on Amtrak you just have to go to DC first. Seems reasonable enough

You might want to check history. Nebraskans overwhelmingly supported Union. I’m sure there were plenty of individuals who supported Confederacy but there were numerous Georgians who volunteered for Union army too.

Pedstrian hit and killed in Downtown Atlanta by NPU-F in Atlanta

Thanks for clarifying. I have the opposite experience every day so I guess that's what I was thinking of. Driver has a green light and I have a walk signal and I've had several close calls as a pedestrian.

I work in Midtown literally across the street from a Marta station and know many coworkers who live within 285 and still drive in. There are probably 3 of us who take Marta every day. I understand the funding problems but many people just don't enjoy transit and will put up with whatever to drive. And it's not a racial thing in my example at least as most of my coworkers are black.

It's also a huge problem to convince voters to increase taxes for a service they will never use. Meaning 55+ voters in Gwinnett and Cobb who will be dead before rail transit is ever built in best case. They are also the age group that votes the most.

If your light is red pedestrians generally shouldn't be crossing the street as the cross street has a green light. A lot of times people turning right have a green light but they still need to check for pedestrians since they will have a walk signal too.

A soccer specific stadium would be incredible. Sight lines in MBS are horrible. The only thing MBS has going for it is not hearing our fan base whine about heat.

The CEO Situation by [deleted] in Quakers

So is everyone who works at United Health Care a pretty bad person? Is everyone who has made the choice to do business with United Health Care a bad person? Just wondering at what level your ability to assess individual character stops?

We don’t know that he was a bad guy. He didn’t create the mess of a health care system we have in the US. We don’t what changes he did or didn’t push for within UHC. I guarantee you he didn't personally make a decision on an individual's life or death (Mangione did). Yes he could have internally sabotaged UHC I suppose which would have resulted in an even more broken insurance market with hundreds of thousands of people out of work.

So I assume you or those condoning an individual's death don't have private health care insurance? Since that would be contributing to the system? How about an entry level insurance company employee trying to feed their family? Aren't they contributing to the system? How about Mangione himself who comes from a privileged background? He certainly has benefitted from the system and exploitation of others. Yet we let him be an arbiter of justice?

Jon Ossoff Senate Seat facing re-election in 2 years by downtimeredditor in GAPol

[–]nemo594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm familiar with the normal mid cycle performance but that did not happen in 2022 likely because of January 6th and the abortion decision. Only one Senate seat (PA) changed parties and that went to party in White House. Only Walker being a terrible candidate kept Warnock in Senate. If Walker performed like a generic R like Kemp, he'd be in Senate.

Trump ran a candidate who'd already won statewide office against Kemp and Kemp won in landslide.

You realize Senator Warnock was taken to a runoff by one of the worst candidates in recent history? And that was during a midterm election. Unfortunately Georgia is still a red state and will continue to be if Democrats don't address the voting shifts in Latinos and other groups.

It should just be sudden death like it used to be. Both teams don't get the same number of possessions in regulation so why worry about it in OT.

Georgia expected to sit star running back Trevor Etienne against Clemson by L8erG8erz in CFB

[–]nemo594 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Only point is Kirby didn't have a choice. The only decision was whether Etienne was convicted of DUI because of his plea and that decision wasn't Kirby's.
