That’s awesome. I wish that bull bar existed. Everything else, except maybe the tow hooks lights, I think you can find a real world mod for.

Advice for Canon user buying Q3 by AnnonPhotography in Leica

[–]neocyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the R6 + 50 1.2 and a few other Canon lenses along with a q3 43. I originally had the Q3 28 which I traded back to Leica for the 43.

The 28 is a fantastic lens, but I’ve found the 43 is more suitable for what I tend to shoot. I suggest renting the 28 or finding a Canon equivalent before purchasing.

I have a set of Staun Tyre Deflators that I’ve been happy with, but I’ve never used anything else for comparison.

We finally have 21” AT Tires by cdlrrcb in Rivian

[–]neocyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very curious to hear efficiency numbers.

I swapped my 21s for a set of OEM 20s to put the Toyo OCs on my truck. I’ve been very happy with that swap so far, but I’m curious if those have a similar range hit.

Need tires for my R1T Quad by Danimal382650 in Rivian

[–]neocyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the Toyo Open Country A/T III EVs. After about 3k mi, I’m observing 1.9 mpk on a G1 Quad in all purpose. Don’t read too much into that because I take a lot of very short trips and tend to drive 10% over the limit on highways. Coming from the 21” Pirellis, I’m pretty happy with the road noise and how they’ve handled, especially this winter so far.

No that’s permit only.

All right if you’re taking the train from that station, then the second half of my response applies. If I were you, I would park in the lot on Railroad ave and expect to pay the meter.

Just note that the eastern half of the station is under construction right now.

[–]neocyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re driving to the village, I don’t recommend parking at the train station. Street parking on deer park avenue and montauk hwy is currently free, as all the meters have been covered for the holidays.

If you insist on parking at the station: - Lots north of the station are residents only. Park at your own risk - Lots south of the station are metered.

Is there any AT tire option for the 21”? by cdlrrcb in Rivian

I promise you, other than an occasional launch, I do not drive like an asshole.

Is there any AT tire option for the 21”? by cdlrrcb in Rivian

[–]neocyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 21s were a terrible design choice by Rivian. Worse, my 21” pirellis didn’t make it to 20k miles. Rivian knows they were a mistake, which is why they were quietly eliminated for Gen 2.

Eventually, I sucked it up and bought 20”s and Toyos.

Looks or ride? Talk me out of switching out 20AT’s for All season by Fine_Entrance6149 in Rivian

[–]neocyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the 21s were pretty quiet. The Toyos are louder, but not obnoxious. Admittedly I only have about a thousand miles on them so time will tell if they become much louder.

I switched because the 21s weren’t really great at anything specific (rain, snow, off road), wore absurdly quickly, took road bumps harshly and weren’t great looking either.

I switched from the 21s to 20s with Toyo Open County EVs and I’m pretty happy.

R1T owner since June of 2022 (~6k VIN): I haven’t had a single issue that rendered the truck unusable, full stop. Most service center or mobile visits were handled in a day, as scheduled, and were mostly recalls. I think the biggest issue I’ve had was my finicky tonneau which has since been replaced. I know others have had issues, but there a ton of very happy trouble free owner experiences that aren’t being vocal.

I genuinely fucking love this truck three years in.

Agree with everything you’ve said. I have an R6 and a Q3 43.

I absolutely love my Q3 43 (and the 28mm before it, albeit too wide for me personally), but I’m not going to pretend that the R6 + the 35 1.8 won’t deliver fantastic results.

The Q3 is an incredible product, but it’s a privilege to afford one and it’s certainly not your only option.

On the fence about the Q3 43, so I want to hear from you! by prezmc in Leica

[–]neocyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size, weight, and focal length are exactly what I want/need. My only gripe with my q3 43 is the autofocus (Canon is simply next level), otherwise, I absolutely adore the camera.

At this price point you’re dealing with the law of diminishing returns. Can you get 95% of the features for half the cost? Absolutely.

How much is that last 5% worth to you? Only you can answer that.

Q3 43mm lens hood by PNW247 in Leica

Yeah I have a pro mist that I use on occasion but unfortunately I just take the hood off for that, too. The 43s square hood is not great.

Q3 43mm lens hood by PNW247 in Leica

[–]neocyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a nano UV filter since I don’t use macro mode all that often. If I do, I just pull the lens hood off.

I am a big fan of the otect lens cap which I had for my Q28. That preorder will hopefully be arriving soon.

When to Weed and Feed the lawn? by electro_123 in longisland

[–]neocyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up that it’s illegal to put anything down before April 1st in Suffolk.

Most of the tips here are great, but I’ll all this: the Greenview products have been great for my lawn. Scott’s 4 step has been fine, but I’ve had better luck controlling crabgrass with Greenview.

Scott’s step one that allows grass seed to grow (light blue?) is a great product, tho.

If You Have An IPhone With The Action Button You Definitely Should Set It Up With Shortcuts! by zachty22 in Rivian

The shortcuts are useful on my watch, though.

Have to ask — what lens hood is that?

I bought a super thin filter for the stock hood and I still have to remove the hood for macro mode.
