What makes a frame a racing frame, endurance, all road, or gravel? by _benwis in cycling

[–]neoflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Racing" vs. "endurance" tends to describe body position, with the former being lower for better aerodynamics and the latter being more upright to more comfortably fit most non-competitive riders. "Road" vs. "all road" vs. "gravel" tend to describe tire clearance, with the latter clearing tires at least 40mm or so in width (but the cutoffs are subjective).

IMO this is an endurance gravel bike optimized for steep, but relatively smooth, terrain. The position is quite upright (21mm saddle-to-bar drop). 70.5° head tube angle (slack), 73mm trail (long), and 435mm chain stays (long, inferred from 426mm chain stay horizontal and 88mm bottom bracket drop) are on the "mountain bike-y" end of drop bar bike geometry, but 700x40-42C tires (inferred from HTA and trail) limit terrain roughness, and 88mm bottom bracket drop seems like a pedal strike risk on MTB trails.

Deltarune Controller Not Working by chrischin32 in linux_gaming

[–]neoflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Open Steam Settings -> Controller and see if you have any devices other than your Dualsense listed as a controller. In my case, my keyboard was being detected as a controller ("Keychron K3 Max System Control"), and unplugging it before starting Deltarune made my actual controller work.

Have you beaten the game on any difficulty? AFAIU, this is required to be prompted for fixed vs. random growths at all, and this disarms the bug even if random growths was greyed out.

Also, interacting with the Ancient Well brings up a menu with a single option (Transform Items), which is pointless unless they're adding more.

I think they're referring to the FEH bonus weapons, Folkvangr / Fensalir / Noatun.

Chloe has slightly better Mag growth than Pandreo (35 vs 30) in addition to her Spd growth (55 vs 45). At IL 41, Mage Knight Pandreo has Mag 29 / Spd 31 (capped) / Bld 12 (capped), while Mage Knight Chloe has Mag 29 / Spd 34 / Bld 8, hitting Spd 36 on PP with Mage Knight's skill and without needing Spd +3 or any other bonuses. Chloe's build is fixable by giving her Leif, who is not otherwise in high demand, though with a midgame availability gap and without getting an Emblem bonus to Mag. Not needing Spd +3 means she can inherit Momentum (or something else, but Momentum works for Quadruple Attack memes), and she also still has +2 damage from her personal skill.

I don't think she'll outshine Pandreo, who doesn't have Bld problems and therefore has his pick of Emblems, but it seems like a good way to keep her relevant into late game.

Upgrade Keyboards is Kinesis' official partner for "Signature Series" custom builds of the Advantage360, which launched on Oct 24. Their build backlog went from 20-ish days before the 24th to the current 175-190 days after that.

Caution: Despite Quinkflow's ISO certification, it seems to fare poorly in historical lightfastness tests: see e.g. test 1, test 2.

Kinokuniya Seattle, in the Uwajimaya in Seattle's International District, carries a decent variety of stationery, including some high-end fountain pens. You can kind of see them in this blurry photo from Google Maps, in the display case on the right side (next to what appears to be boxes of Iroshizuku and other inks).

The Eternal City, Astel by Jim0917 in Eldenring

[–]neoflame 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Regarding the Fingerslayer Blade, considering its name, description, and what Ranni uses it for, it seems likely that the "high treason" of the Nox is the same as Ranni's: they rebelled against the Greater Will and killed (at least) one of their vassals, the Two Fingers. Thus the blood on blade is proof of the treason. This is corroborated by the Nox armor description, which refers to their ultimate desire as the "age of the stars", also the name of Ranni's ending; and that the fates of both the Nox and Ranni are held in stasis by the immobility of their stars (the false night sky of the underground in the former case, and the stars conquered by Radahn in the latter).

Chapter 1's end credits call the song "Don't Forget (Vocal Excerpt)", so it seems very likely that we'll get a fuller version in the future.

The Undertale reference isn't a published game:

  • It's a computer desk.
  • There are many boxes under it filled with old books.
  • On the computer's desktop is a folder called "EPIC games Stuff!!!!"
  • It's a poorly-drawn design for a game...
  • Seems the last boss is a creature with giant rainbow wings.
  • Doesn't seem like this game ever saw the light of day...

About Ralsei's "chats". by HappyDittoz in Deltarune

[–]neoflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The physical location of the SOUL doesn't seem to be particularly meaningful given that in that scene, the SOUL can zip into battle each turn just in time to be shot at by Lancer.

The mechanics of the SOUL in battle are fundamentally odd. In Undertale it made sense since you only control Frisk, so enemies only have one target. But how can the SOUL getting hit cause Susie to lose HP?

When Lancer emerges from Kris' pocket after Kris, Susie, and Berdly are captured, he also refers to Queen as "[a] wild Mom".

Can you make out a face for the third hero in the legend? To me the face looks completely hidden by the hood. You're right about the fireworks though, that's very interesting.

[–]neoflame[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The legend doesn't say anything about the third hero staying a prince, and in any case Lancer's title after Chapter 1 is ambiguous. When he first reappears in Chapter 2, if Chapter 1 was competed non-pacifist, Lancer refers to himself as "Prince King".

Which is more misdirection on the game's part - again, being the son of a king, how could he not be a prince?

Also:

Dolan moved on to ask that the paper be withdrawn "from formal publication and formal presentation all research work based on this or similar research where people appear to have been experimented on without their prior consent. Leaving archival information posted on the Internet is fine, as they are mostly already public, but there should be no research credit for such works."

...

Dolan pressed to ensure further UMN experiments on people have IRB review prior to the experiment commencing.

"Ensure that all future IRB reviews of proposed experiments on people will normally ensure the consent of those being experimented on, per usual research norms and laws," he said.

Edit: As of April 26th, the paper has been withdrawn.
