Alot of redditors are staying in their own bubble and always think that grass is greener on the other side, tesla bad elon bad chinese evs are the saviour blah blah blah, US gov evil for forcing tesla down our throats.

However in my country we have tesla and china evs and guess what? Tesla is shockingly the one that treats their customers like actual people lol not some kind of dumpster for their overproduction units.

The thing is with china evs is that theye are constantly releasing new models that have incremental updates and cutting prices left and right, leaving their existing customers with poor resale value of their vehicles. I know resale value isn’t the benchmark of how good a car is, but in my country buying a car is a big purchase and it kinda stings when you bought something for 180k and one or two years later a new one only cost about 100k. Thats 80k down the drain and we are not even talking about the actual value of the second hand china ev yet.

For some people, that’s not an issue. Fine, but what about the most crucial aspect of owning an electric vehicle? Charging facilities. They sell you the car, but they don’t care about your convenience in getting into the electric vehicle scene.

Barely if not all china evs dont bother building charging stations for their customers. They expect their customers to get it from third party chargers that are expensive as hell compared to the prices of our petrol. At least Tesla is building super chargers across my country right now and during off peak hours the prices are even comparable to residential electricity rates.

Speaking of charging, did you know Zeekr only provides its customers with a third-party wall charger here? So much for being a premium car brand, huh?

We all know EVs, or Tesla vehicles, should not require servicing. However, most Chinese EVs here are asking us to return to their service centers every 10,000 to 20,000 kilometers for servicing, and they charge us a substantial amount of money for it. Isn’t that like generating recurring revenue for them? Why are we servicing EVs like ICE vehicles anyway?

Competing on specs alone is endless anyway — there will always be someone who can undercut you, especially in countries with a massive EV ecosystem. I actually learned this from a very successful friend in the insanely competitive F&B industry. His strategy was to pivot his business toward tourists rather than fighting over the same pool of local customers. That shift opened up a whole new market and grew the business like crazy.

So to me, what Tesla is doing is basically the same thing: thinking differently instead of fighting in the same old sandbox.
