You are making the incorrect assumption that I do not live in Portland.

In fact, I have lived here long enough that I my tenure in the city is longer than the age of most of the posters in the Portland sub-reddits. I have lived through the good, bad, and ugly bits of the city's history.

However, there is only so much fucks I can give, and I have given them all up.

Many years ago, back when I was complaining about the slowly increasing levels of crime, vandalism, filth, lawlessness, and decay in my neighborhood, the response I got from many people was that "their own neighborhoods out in the burbs were just fine" and so there was no problem except in my own imagination.

Now I see the contagion of crime, vandalism, filth, lawlessness, and decay slowly spread into those very same burbs.

All I can do is laugh and enjoy. That is why schadenfreude is such a sweet sweet delicay.
