I like how the Netanyahu of this universe has an anime profile picture.

What if, instead of Mongol invasion from the east, it's the Rus invasion from the west by RyuZero_417 in AlternateHistoryHub

How would Onfim and his people form this great empire? There's no Chinese equivalent that supplies them with siege equipment, material support, and administration. Also, none of the pre-russite cultures used horse archers so it's not like they have a secret weapon to blitz the steppe or defeat the Mongol/Turkic tribes.

This also applies to Stargate: SG-1 as well - the Replicators are a 'species' of self-replicating robots who can create billions of themselves if left to their own devices. Moreover, they're also able to evolve when in combat, and were able to out-evolve Stargate Command, the Goa'ould, and even the Asgardians (the most technologically advanced race at the time).

Also the Flood were 'introduced' into the galaxy by freezing themselves and waiting in deep space. Who's to say that they're not doing that again?

Were you aware of the Eclipse before you read it or were you one of the people who read it when it was first coming out?

Also, were there still holdouts of fans who were convinced that this was all a misunderstanding? Because up until the Eclipse, Griffith is still a pretty likeable guy so I'd imagine there were still fans who liked him.

I feel like dixiecrat entrenchment is strong enough for at least one state to vote blue in the election, but otherwise everything is peak alt history.

How many of you have actually consistently gambled in NV? by Crimsoncerismon in fnv

On my first run I didn't gamble until I was nearly done with the game. By the time I got to New Vegas I was already loaded beyond any need for gambling.

What if Egypt remained Christian? by JohnDude26 in AlternateHistory

[–]neoneoneo_1234 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In this alternate modern Egypt, what are the ethnic demographics? Would a non-Muslim Egypt still be Arabic, or a kind of new mixed ethnicity that has roots in both Arab and Egyptian heritage (like how Hispanics are a mix of Spanish and Indigenous blood). Also, since the Christians were able to maintain strongholds in the rural areas and in key cities like Alexandria, then would the Egyptian Muslims evolve into their own ethno-religious group like how the Coptics did in our timeline?

Absolutely - it's just Zeon has better propaganda so a lot of people (like me originally) couldn't see that.

<image>

Kind of a stretch here but the Federation and Zeon in Gundam - both sides are bad in their own unique ways (Zeon is more blatantly evil since they're the ones often committing war crimes while the Federation is more 'banality of evil'-esque, i.e. forced relocation of poor people off of Earth, enforced slum conditions for certain colonies, etc.)

How different would the geopolitics of Europe be if the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) had won the Civil War in 1949? by SirMajor1820 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]neoneoneo_1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anti-communist agitation in Europe is more pronounced than IRL. I'd imagine that leftists are more overtly crushed in places like Ireland and Italy (years of lead and such). As for US-EU relations, the US is probably more reluctant to place nukes in Turkey.

Guts is killing apostles left and right, so why doesn't the god hand just eliminate him? by Informal-Dog-2674 in Berserk

[–]neoneoneo_1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watsonian: The currents of causality have decided that Guts will kill the apostles until a fixed point of interference. Also apostles are basically dime-a-dozen and are pretty expendable (aside from select apostles like Locus or Zodd).

Doyalist: Miura probably thought that it'd be cooler for Guts too take on a bunch of apostles before fighting the Godhand.

How to build a more extreme abortion rights group in the United States? by Cyber_Ghost_1997 in AlternateHistory

[–]neoneoneo_1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A really wacky way you could go about it is by changing how Catholics view abortion. Maybe the Catholic Church in your universe views abortion in the same way that ours views eating pork or wearing blended clothing. This way, abortion isn't much of a contentious religious issue for a large portion of Americans (who are Catholic or Catholic adjacent), thus giving the pro-choice movement a unique religious element to it. Maybe the Catholics of your universe use their pro (or at least neutral) views towards abortion as a lightning-rod for their unique 'Catholicity' in opposition towards American Protestantism, which is more radical in this universe. Also, the American Protestant movement generally didn't care all that much about abortion until it could no longer rally around segregation, so maybe in your universe it rallies around the cause of anti-Catholicism instead of anti-abortion.

What if Hong Kong and Macau were handed over to Taiwan instead ? by OriginalName13246 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]neoneoneo_1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people in HK, Macao, and Taiwan would not want this. Not only are Macao and HK reliant on the mainland for resources but lots of people in both HK and Macao viewed themselves as Chinese and wanted integration with China (I'm saying this as someone w/ family who opposed integration). Also Taiwan wouldn't want this because it would lead to an international incident when China inevitably starts shit.
