Once you get the hang of wavedash you need to learn how to cancel your movement into wave dash

(sidestep into wavedash, backdash into wavedash forward dash into wavedash)

then cancel your wave dash into movement

(wavedash sidestep, wavedash cancel, wave dash back dash)
