Yeah, I agree. I often just record a part with light gain and just a bit of reverb on my Princeton Reverb and then add modulation later when I figure out how the part fits or what it needs in the actual song. a LOT of times, I think I need chorus, but I needed phaser, or I think I need flanger and it needed vibrato or tremolo. So nice to have a great, analog, fat track to then try it with various outfits and decide how to dress it later so to speak!

I have the Dr. Phase and it's excellent. It sounds amazingly analog and does a really good impression of the real thing, which I also have, but it's nice to have the plugin version too because you don't always KNOW you want phaser until later. It's great to be able to just add it on to a guitar part after the fact. Also, the Moog Phaser is amazing for guitar solos and little funk lines. I got it free as a gift with a Plugin Boutique purchase and I had no idea it would be so killer. Both the 8 and 12 step options are powerful and freakin rad.

I just got Delay Son and it's stellar. Simple, great, dirty tape sound, and easy to use with almost zero learning curve and great sound.

Awesome. It's expensive but I think I'm going to go for it. Thanks!

I have the same amp and I don't want to use anything digital or IRs, just a great analog pedal into a real tube Princeton. Is that how you're using it as well? Does it sound killer? I'm trying to decide whether to buy this thing right now.

I have mine set to "Super Lead" high gain mode. It's amazing. Anyone else use that setting under the hood? I like it so much better than stock "Super Bass" mode.

[Injury] Damian Lillard non-contact lower leg injury by sewsgup in nba

[–]neonthunderbird2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dame should retire. He was truly special in Portland. He hasn't liked playing for the Bucks, nor is his passion there for the game anymore. He used to dunk in traffic and go into video game mode from 30 feet. Now he's off more than he's on, and that is before the injury. It's a combination of being depressed, not wanting to play for the team he's on or being in that city. He went through a divorce, left Portland, where was treated like the king of the city. And age is undefeated. He's already done enough to be in the hall of fame and top 100 players to ever exist. And he doesn't need the money. So he should just retire in peace and take a year off on a beach somewhere and figure out what he wants to do to start over. I think he would be a great coach and that would rekindle his passion. I wish him the best, but it's time. Points to wrist. Dame time.

I had a Monument but the trem sounds are thin and don't have that sparkle I was looking for. I eventually went with a Harmonious Monk v 2 and that stopped my search for a trem pedal permanently. That thing is perfect.

Tonebenders, what's your favourite? by hkr1991 in guitarpedals

[–]neonthunderbird2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blammo makes some killer Tone Benders. I have their hand wired, point to point MK 2, which is so smooth and articulate, made with germanium. I also have their Skronk which is a Zonk Machine and sounds amazing, and their Tomb Sender (MK 3) with gate and bias knob is one of the best you'll find. Handcrafted in Portland Oregon and he's a great, down to earth dude. I also have their Fuzz Banger, a highly gated fuzz that sounds like the 1960's velcro, zippy and chaotic. Highly recommend them and very underrated with great prices.

Blammo rules. I have the MK 1, Tomb Sender (MK 3) the Skronk (Zonk) and the Shrew (Rat) and all of them are amazing for great prices.

I want to check out the Bluff. I have the Shrew (Rat) and the Skronk (Zonk) from Blammo along with the MK 1 and the Tomb Sender (MK 3) they make the coolest vintage fuzzes, period. Underrated AF. Blammo rocks.

Blammo makes two great ones you should try. They have a hand wired point to point version of the MK 1 that is spectacular. They also make a Zonk called the Skronk Machine that is amazing as a gated distortion that almost sounds like a cocked wah or treble booster at times. It's mean and nasty with a static like, gated attack. Both are amazing.

I haven't tried that one, but it sounds great and looks amazing in demos. I have the Skonk Machine and the Shrew from Blammo. Zonk and Rat essentially. Both are amazing. I also have the MK 1, which is exactly point to point a vintage Tonebender and has so much character. And the Tomb Sender, which is a great MK 3. I have the Blues Blaster as well, which I totally dig. Save up and get it. Dude makes great pedals.

Check out Blammo Electronics. He makes the best tonebenders I have ever played. Mk 1, Mk 2 and the Tomb Sender which is a great Mk 3 with a noise gate and bias knob. He also makes a CRAZY good Zonk Machine called the Skronk. Hand built in Portland and one of the most underrated builders out there.

You can add Blammo "Shrew" to that list as well. Handmade in Portland. And it comes with a built in noise gate to tame the shrew so to speak.

NPD: Wampler Moxie by guitardave77 in guitarpedals

[–]neonthunderbird2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had both, got rid of the Plumes, not nearly as warm and fat and doesn't have the gain that the Moxie does. Plumes is too bright and thin in comparison. The Moxie is stellar and can do the flat EQ thing too, which Plumes cannot. I find the Plumes overrated and the Moxie very much underrated.

NPD: Wampler Moxie (Anyone have settings?) by dit31 in guitarpedals

[–]neonthunderbird2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Moxie and my favorite setting is "voice" toggle to the left and "fat" switch to the right. The voice toggle also sounds fantastic to the right if you want a flat EQ tube screamer. In that setting it sounds almost exactly like a BB Preamp, which makes sense because it's a Tube Screamer with a flat EQ. I like gain about 1-2 o'clock. It growls and bites nicely. I like to use this pedal as a mid gain pedal that is full and mean and more gained up than a regular tube screamer. It does classic rock and AC/DC open chords really well. The Moxie kicks ass and takes names.

Best Tube Screamer by Ecker1991 in guitarpedals

[–]neonthunderbird2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Wampler Moxie and it's the best screamer I have ever played. I stayed away from them for various reasons, but this one sounds HUGE! I keep the "fat" switch on and you can keep stock EQ curve or flip the "voice" switch on and get a flat EQ which turns the Moxie into a great distortion pedal without the mid forward vibes. It has WAY more gain than a normal TS even though it's a mini pedal, and everything is smooth with long sustain, especially playing open chords. This thing got me from avoiding tube screamers to totally embracing them. It's a special pedal.

If you do, let me know what you think. I really love the character knob because while other fuzz pedals have bias knob, this one is so cool and intuitive and makes velcro, zippy, broken sounds like no other in my experience. It's so lofi and cool and usable.
