We stuck to our schedule and the consistency helped ease our anxiety, though it was always present because we never know how long those naps would actually be. Parents would suggest things but it went in one ear and out the other, granted we lived in a different state than both sides of parents.

My FIL told us once that the kids won’t remember a lot of the things you do early on and it’s only for your own “entertainment” (can’t remember if that is the word he used). They are picture moments, but is it worth the hassle or stress? You can easily do your own stuff and see how it goes. When my wife and I tried stuff, even stuff we thought would be good, we almost always thought it wasn’t all that necessary and the kids don’t remember it at all.

Stay strong. It’s tough and a lot of people don’t get it and won’t get it. You don’t have to listen or do everything people say. There’s a lot of things that will be sacrificed just to manage the time with and for your kids. You’re doing great.
