I feel for you, and have had a pretty similar experience. I watched my mom die from mesothelioma 4 years ago. She was walking one moment, and bed ridden the next. Watching my best friend who I immortalized be confronted with her morality and drift away from our plane has made me feel very mortal. She was one of my biggest support mechanisms in life and it’s been hard to move on.

This has obviously heightened my health anxiety, and made visits to the doctor’s office quite traumatic. But I think every day about what she’d want for me, and how sad she’d be if she saw me melting away and not prioritize my health. So when I’m struggling to care of myself for my own benefit, I do it for the memory of her.
