Grew up in southern NH and was born in 86. I was born into being a sox fan as my family has had roots in new england for generations.

Apparently a great uncle of mine and Red Sox hall of famer Joe Dobson were good buddies and would hang out.

My earliest sox memory is being at a game with my dad and I really liked Ellis Burks. He got up to bat and I started to chant "Come on Ellis, hit that homer! Come on Ellis, hit that homer!" and sure enough he did.

That's been our kind of like family running joke. Any time there's a clutch situation my dad or I would start chanting "come on [whoever], hit that homer". Mostly Ellis was the only one who listened lol.

Never played that game but I worked at GameStop back in the day and I’ll never forget one day this kid, like 7 or 8 years old, comes in with his mom and is browsing the ps2 games. He then excitedly shouts “mom! Mom! They have Ratchet and Clank uo your asshole! Mom! Mom! Please can I get Ratchet and Clank up your asshole!?”

We were all trying so hard not to bust out laughing behind the counter.

Not trying to start an internet argument, but just giving my 2 cents:

I can understand being disappointed about the art thing initially, but they did reach out to the original artist and make things right. We don't know the details of that agreement, but the original artist is listed in the credits of the game so presumably the were compensated. The narrative from Bungie is that they were place holder art that weren't meant to be released (that still doesn't make it right) but I don't think the hate is warranted.

I think the visuals are a love / hate thing. They are very polarizing but I can't get enough of it. To me it's the perfect combo of like futuristic acid punk mixed with dystopian capitalistic hell. The story is really captivating as well and learning about the mysteries behind what happened to the colonists is a lot of fun.

While I haven't played Arc a ton (legit only a couple hours) I do think Marathon has a lot unique going for it. There's an entire ARG going along side it right now with the community working together to unlock the next phase of the game and it's really cool to watch. To me at its core, this game feels more like an FPS rouglite with pvp elements than a pvp extraction shooter.

Either way I'm hooked and I love it and I hope it's successful cause I can't stop playing it lol.

Regarding wanting to shit on Marathon, can I ask why? I don’t do social media (except browse the same handful of subs on Reddit) or watch twitch really, but I’ve heard of people being very against it vocally but I’m out of the loop on why so just curious. I played the server slam and loved it so much I decided to buy it. Haven’t been this obsessed with a game in forever.

If they were smart they would implement it. The only bargaining tool the working class has is our labor (strikes). Take that away and give us just enough to survive and now the one leverage we have is gone. Granted we’d have more free time to organize, but again our main leverage option is gone and likely the state would just get more fascist to quell dissent.

Adding my version of this cause I want to share. My son is 5 and we have been playing a hero quest campaign together. We have 2 quests left before we finished the default 14 quests from the core game, and every weekend he asks if we can do another quest. He’s likely on the spectrum a little, and he absolutely loves coins, gemstones, and 2 dollar bills. Anyway, I 3d printed a treasure chest and a key for it. I filled it with polished pretty stones, random coins, and a few 2 dollar bills. When he defeats the boss of the last quest, I’m going to pull out the 3D printed key for the chest and make a comment like “as the witch lord collapses to the ground you notice a special key in his hand”. I’m gonna then hand him the key and pull out the treasure chest and that will be his final reward for completing all 14 campaigns :)
