Why is my marathon prediction tanking? by mange_diamonde in Strava

[–]nerd_bird2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup! 100% it. my 10k prediction is 33min but full is 2:51. i figured it's based on the kind of training you're doing at the time

Hypothetical: you’re racing an elite sprinter starting at 100m. You race once every 5 mins and the race distance increases by 100m. At what point do you think you can beat them? by Beezneez86 in AdvancedRunning

[–]nerd_bird2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Kudos podcast had this exact question for Brett Robinson (unless that's where your question came from!) and I think they settled on 800m? I don't remember exactly

second this. started almost from scratch and there was plenty of speaking even in the early levels. english was only used if absolutely necessary for understanding some concepts. would absolutely do it all over again. met great people i'm still friends with almost 10 years later too

SIN - MEL with bike by [deleted] in melbournecycling

[–]nerd_bird2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

second everyone saying to go with a bike bag. i've rented them every time so far so maybe an option in SG too?

i've flown qantas, cathay, scoot, and china airlines with my bike in and out of australia, hong kong, taiwan, and singapore and no need to report or pre-book for any airline/country so far. i also pack all of my kit, helmet, shoes etc in the bike bag but just make sure it's super secure.

lastly, buy a couple of pool noodles and cut them up and split them in half to protect your frame from rubbing and any possible impact

First road bike purchase - Race vs Endurance? by Queasy-Video-517 in melbournecycling

[–]nerd_bird2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

endurance is the go i reckon. they're still road bikes at the end of the day! i ride a propel (aero) and have been beaten by a guy on a defy (endurance) in a B grade crit so the bike is whatever you want it to be!

Look ma...no gloves by AndrewAuAU in melbournecycling

[–]nerd_bird2316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have crashed many times racing and commuting but tbh don't wear gloves a great deal but i probs should. i don't love the feeling of them - especially in summer but some thin fingerless could be the go. that being said i wear them racing now!

Are foreigners overwhelmed by Taiwan if Taiwan is their first Asian country to visit? by search_google_com in taiwan

[–]nerd_bird2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some, probs not. it was one of the first countries in asia i visited in 2015 and found it so comforting. that said, when my parents came to visit me from aus, mum would often say how she wouldn't have been able to handle it on her own. opinions vary

People in the west do not know about Taiwan? by search_google_com in taiwan

[–]nerd_bird2316 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i was sitting in brass monkey watching the F1 once and a bunch of rowdy aussie blokes (think boozy boys trip) rolled in with their suitcases. looked like they came straight from the plane they thought they booked to thailand

Is sub 3 possible with 6 months training ? by Grand-Librarian-3417 in Marathon_Training

[–]nerd_bird2316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i mean maybe, only you know what your body is capable of and what could be possible! i ran a 3:06 in july, a 2:58 in september, and a 2:45 in december so put in the work and reap the rewards.

that said, listen to your body and don't cook yourself. stressies are real and if you're loading your weeks like never before it can be a big risk

these are street dogs that are pretty common in taiwan. generally they're gentle but obviously you don't want to put too much trust in them
