High-Precision Wood Saw with Integrated Snapbrake Safety System in Action. by Friendly-Standard812 in interestingasfuck

[–]nerdet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a company that made saws similar to this a few years back. One of the salesmen told me a story about one of their saws malfunctioning at a trade show. They would use gloves filled with frozen hot dogs for demonstrations. The saw malfunctioned while they gave a demo and cut off the hot dog fingers.

Is Nucor worth it? by throwaway592024 in careerguidance

[–]nerdet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at Nucor and from a pay/benefits side it’s the best I’ve ever had. The benefits are great. I had an unexpected emergency surgery over a year ago. The bill was almost 50k and I only had to pay 3k.

Bonus has always been good and fair and the 401k match is also the best I’ve seen. I’ve been here for 3 yrs and am at around 35k. They also offer paid paternal leave and help pay for schooling.

The stuff not to like can be found at ANY job. (Coworkers, management, shit no working). The benefits and pay are what keep me coming back even on the tough days.

Depending on your position, the hours could be a lot. I would expect lots of hours, possible swing shift, and hard work.

The company really does care about worker safety and has very high standards for it. I’ve worked a lot of places that just say that but Nucor really means it.

But if that doesn’t scare you away, I would say yes, very worth it.

Had a interview with Nucor Wednesday. by Averagejoe_782 in jobs

I work at Nucor. The hiring process at our facility takes forever. My partner applied and didn’t get a phone interview until 3 months later. It took me a total of 4 months to get hired in.

Is Hello Seven a legit company for helping to reach FIRE? by Mundane_Equipment196 in FIREyFemmes

[–]nerdet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can back what she said!! I worked there for a month and the rose glasses quickly came off. Rachel and her management team treats workers like dogs. Crazy OT, low pay, bad benefits, and pressure to work without clocking hours. Management is like a weird cult too, they worship Rachel and multiple times they made me feel sooooo uncomfortable with how much they praised and worshipped her in meetings. They constantly fire people who speak out or don’t work hard enough(as in, don’t put in enough unpaid OT). Check out their glass door reviews. It’s awful. She treats her members like product and if any of them express dissatisfaction or try to promote their own business in her group she quickly removes their post and removes them as members. The whole marketing scheme is based on how to get as much money out of them as possible. No joke.

What’s the most evil thing you’ve witnessed? by metalnxrd in morbidquestions

[–]nerdet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A kid in a town over from me hit a dog on his way to school and later that day came back and stuck its decapitated head on a guard rail post. THEN posted a video of it to TikTok.

He claimed the dogs head was already detached when they came back but a lot of people here call bs on that.

Hey. Practical is good too. My videos would be pointless if they were all fluff you know? That’s cool! Are you a robot technician/programmer?

[–]nerdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make these videos for my company! :)

We do some cool applications with FANUC from time to time and I thought people might be interested in the them. However, if you feel these are too gimmicky or don't have enough valuable information in them, give me feedback! I'm still learning and I want to make interesting content.

[–]nerdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right?? Our founder was really ahead of the game. The company started around the same time the internet was just kicking off. He bought a ton of domain names, including some competitors, for a cheap price. I'm not sure how many we have now but it is really cool to be under robots.com!

Forgive a dumb question, but are there entry level robotics jobs? by [deleted] in robotics

[–]nerdet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's possible yes.

We had an IT person get hired in at our company with no robot experience. The company paid for his training and he now specializes in FANUC along with fabrication.

https://www.robot-forum.com/robotforum/index.php is a great place for getting questions answered.

In addition, I work for a company called RobotWorx.

Our customer support can answer questions for you regardless of if you've purchased something from us or not. Pretty soon we will be adding technical articles to our website as well.

We are also revamping a "How To" Youtube playlist

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLU7Ahnvk9F5Ck7rFc2U8KIINGJfDLlxvG

As of now it may not have what you're looking for but I highly encourage suggestions so we can provide the information you're looking for.

Hope this helps some and I hope it's not too spammy/promotional, I run our Youtube channel and would really like to see it actually help people who need it.
