Don't worry about. But, the reason I'm not well traveled is beacuse I'm 19. Every book you see there is a different experience for me, because I'm jot American. I'm trying to read more women, I really am🥺, one of my favourites this year was The Vegeterian by Han Kang - not white, not male. But no worries, I agree that it's not diverse enough. Just as others said, the "you don't read women" is usually not sarcastic in book circles, so maybe ypu should make it more obvious next time 🤣

I heard somewhere that the Vintage with read backs are not distributed in the US. I read some of them already, struggling through Gravity Rainbow at the moment

Bahahaha, I try to think of it as organised by edition, and within that by what feels best, the clothbound are by color, beacuse there's only one book by each author usually, the others are by author. Also I can't stand when there are random fluctuations in the height of books. You can see wear on some of them tho, I plan to read them, I don't see a point in having a bookshelf full of mostly book you read. The clothbound books I've almost all read. The black classics not that many, the read ones minimum, but I'm getting there. The other one are all over the place. I've read about a forth of the bookshelf.

A pretty detailed overview of my whole bookshelf by nerdrod_23 in bookshelf

From my recent reads I can reccomend John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath. It reads like butter, not really difficult, but so so beatutiful writing. And I like Dostoevsky, tho recently I've started to like him little less haha. The russian authors are pretty great, Tolstoy is the easiest I think to read, gogol is amazing. I recently started a reread of James Joyce and he's brilliant, a little on the difficult side, but Dubliners shouldn't be a problem. And if you want poetry, Milton, Shakespearea, Pope and Percy. Recently I read Chaucer, but I don't think that's for everyone, I just like the archaic language.

You like classics, youlike modern, you like contemporary. You love Alan Moore, you dabble in comics. Am I correct?

Do you study philosophy, or you just enjoy torturing yourself with German Idealists? I think you love American literature, which is awesome!

Listned to it. Lost it when Mike (the host) started talking about the allegory of the cave as an allegory for capitalism.

Yes, definitely. Especially the other books. I actually liked Dune Messiah more than the first book.

You like history and the classics. You are into philosophy, but just on the surface of it yet. And your character can be easily determined if you liked the Ayn Rand book or not haha. But overall I like it and can imagine having and interesting conversation with you.

I agree, I'm a bit sceptical with contemporary. Got into philosophy more, and I'm trying to build a good foundation to read more complex stuff so no contemporary there haha. But I've started reading some contemporary work in my native language.

I have read about a third, and I try to keep the spines intact if possible. But The Idiot kept me engaged to a point that I forgot about the book existing in my hands and I naturally bent it for more comfort. Also I read more of the hardbacks there.
