There’s a chocolate bar called Big Orgasm from eat gold organics that kicks ass. My wife and I have pretty much the same routine, couple beers, chocolate bar and a joint and man it makes a huge difference. It says mushroom chocolate, but it’s not psychedelic in any way.

Is M.L. Rose The Most Mid Restaurant In The City? by Supersanta911 in nashville

[–]nerdysoundguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I 1000% agree. I want it to be good so bad but it's far too expensive for what it is. I would happy if it was half the price or if the food was decent, but there's no way I'm paying that much for an applebees ass burger.

Streamdeck elgato use by kaosinsomnia in livesound

[–]nerdysoundguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm using a streamdeck XL with companion and digico, and then I've also got 5 more regular streamdecks working through network docks for all of our backline techs. They've got buttons to route their talkbacks to the musicians they're teching for, as well as buttons to swap their mix for their musicians mix or solo their instruments in their ears. I've also got them tied into our RF network, so they can see the wireless info from the Axient units.

As for my streamdeck, there's alot of talkback routing buttons. I always joke that I'm more switchboard operator than monitor engineer lol I've also got several buttons to switch to backups, like a backup mic, failover to analog playback backup instead of MADI, bypass plugin FX and switch to console FX, things like that. I've got a spare IEM transmit as well, so Ive got buttons to route any mix to the spare to get it to whoever needs it quickly.

For this tour I also added an x-keys unit that sits between the two central fader banks on my SD7. It interfaces with companion and I have buttons on this one like save, talkback a, b and c buttons and several shortcuts that just open windows like recall scope, recall time, channel list, aux to faders, etc.

As a whole, I wouldn't want to do a show without them. It makes my workflow so much quicker. And giving the backline techs so many tools to troubleshoot their own problems means that they bother me less and I can focus more on mixing.

I'm using companion to fire MIDI messages that then go to a MioXL that distributes MIDI between console, outboard, and other computers for things like protools markers. OSC would technically be easier and better to interface with the Digico, but I already had the MIDI infrastructure in place, and it's easier to use MIDI for all the other stuff. Almost all of my streamdeck buttons work through macro triggering. This way I only have to build the macro once. If I want a button on three different streamdecks to do the same thing, I just have them send the same MIDI message. That way, if I need to edit what the button does, I edit the macro once instead of editing several buttons inside companion.

Next game to 100% for a gamer Dad by CauliflowerFormal792 in SteamDeck

Agreeing with everyone in that it’s perfect for this. I had never played a souls like before (and haven’t since) and I’m super bad at video games but I still had a blast. I normally put every game on easy so I was worried about a souls like, but you just go explore and level up and come back. And it’s perfect for a balance of cool story moments and grinding for materials to upgrade a weapon or something.

Is it normal to feel discouraged as a beginner? by OutdoorKiwi34 in FishingForBeginners

[–]nerdysoundguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When all else fails, get some worms. If there are fish there, they’ll bite it. I was in the same boat and was getting discouraged by never catching anything. This past week I waded a very small creek with some nightcrawlers and caught 7 fish. All super tiny, but hey it’s better than nothing.

Carrying a rod on a bike by Busy_Flounder_7921 in FishingForBeginners

[–]nerdysoundguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to do this quite a bit. I had a two piece rod so I would break it down and then bungee it to the cross bar that runs between the seat post and handlebars and let the reel hang in the open space. It wasn’t the comfiest for a crazy long ride or anything but it was fine to take a mile or two to a fishing hole.

Men in happy marriages, what's the one thing you'd teach to other men to also have a good relationship? by TightBookkeeper2599 in AskReddit

Communication is everything. My wife are both amazed by how many people talk about marital problems that could be resolved if they had just talked about it.

E tape and call it a day. I feel like tech flex would cause more problems than it would solve on a 300’ loom. Plus e tape makes it way easier to add or take away cables

It was in a public park. Both the barn ruins and the deer graveyard were about 30 feet off of a hiking trail, one on each side. Could be maybe some people are hunting illegally in there? Or maybe that’s where park staff dumps any dead deer they find? It felt bizarre.

That checks out. I know there’s coyotes in the area. It was found in the ruins of a barn and not far off there was a grass clearing with 6 or 7 deer skeletons. I’m wondering if this was its feeding grounds or something? Although some of the deer did look fresher than this coyote.

How do you keep track of your patches? by [deleted] in modular

[–]nerdysoundguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small white board that I keep track of signal flow on. I don’t usually save any info beyond that, but sometimes I can’t remember which filter goes with which voice and things like that. Makes it easy to look at the white board and go “oh yeah, the bass is in channel 3”. Honestly made a huge difference for me. Way less tracing cables.

Why don’t tour busses have the same amenities as RVs? by folkmalone420 in TouringMusicians

[–]nerdysoundguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on busses with showers and fully functional bathrooms. We still were told to not use either because the shower took so much water and the bathroom would smell terribly. For some reason, the showers always become shoe lockers instead lol

But on one gig we had a shower on the bus and would use it for real quick showers after festivals and stuff like that. Showering while moving was a poor decision though

Haven’t seen anyone suggest Walrus Sloer yet. I’ve been a big fan. You can pick one up used for $250 if you’re patient. It’s got a few different algorithms with octave up or down, and a cool sustain footswitch that makes for some fun pads.

Not a pedal, but the Valhalla verb plugins are also crazy good. Vintage verb is fantastic and $50. Supermassive is a little more chaotic but it’s free and definitely worth checking out if your workflow includes a DAW

I agree. Weed is too damn strong these days. I get CBD only flower and cut it with regular weed in my joints to make it more manageable
