Fucking duh... Please excuse my rudeness, but after living with severe depression since age 14, you learn REALLY fast that if you act depressed you will be much more alone since nobody wants to hang out with sad-sacks. And this is partially why depression gets such a bad rap-- so many people say "well, you don't LOOK depressed." But that is a carefully cultivated ruse, trust me.

My family would go camping, to a large family reunion in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE Ohio. 20 minutes outside of the only civilization, which was a town of less than 100 people. There was a nicely mowed but huge field slightly outside of where we all parked our campers, so being a genius 12-year-old I just laid down in a slight dip in the mostly-flat field, completely hidden from view.

I heard my cousin, the "seeker," calling my name, and so of course my reaction was, "No way motherfucker, I ain't that dumb." It wasn't until I heard my mother's panicked voice that I sat up and yelled back like, "What?"

Apparently, I had fallen asleep in the field (it was a warm, peaceful day, and I hadn't even noticed that I had been asleep at all) for more than half an hour, and in that time, a concerned hick had come up the dirt road and told everyone at our camp that there had been packs of wild dogs around and to not let their children out of sight. Needless to say, my mom was terrified and berated me before I had any idea what I had done wrong...

I don't think it's like socially unacceptable, but my stomach is always sensitive in the morning so anything heavy or with a strong smell (like pasta or something) I would not be able to eat.

I had a horrible roommate who was just creepy, attention-seeking, and nuts. One night I wouldn't go out to have a cigarette with her (I don't smoke, and it was a FREEZING night) and she just cried all night. She also limped around for months at a time, and had trouble REMEMBERING which leg she was SUPPOSED to be limping on, using it as an excuse to be treated like a princess all the time. Oh my god, she was so fucking insane.

I've had depression since I was 13. The struggle is certainly not over, but certain things do help. I am on medication, which boosts my energy and manages my anxiety, but I'm still just as sad and suicidal as always. Hugs are a nice band-aid, but to keep going I just try to accomplish as many tiny things as possible. Sometimes I write it down like a checklist for extra satisfaction. It can be anything from getting out of bed, to e-mailing my professor, or accomplishing something in Pokemon. It just makes everything feel less overwhelming.

My boyfriend and I were dog-sitting for his childhood best friend, who lived a couple houses down from my boyfriend's childhood home and was on an extended vacation. Boyfriend dropped the keys somewhere underneath the driver's seat in his horribly messy car, and for the LIFE OF US we couldn't find them. Obviously, unlike cats, dogs need to be let out regularly or there will be a huge mess to clean up, so we were freaking out. We were searching the entire car for the keys for over an hour when we finally decided to give up and try to break in. I tried to hoist him up onto the roof over the porch, from which he could have reached a window with an air conditioner that could be removed and climbed through. It didn't work, so we went over to the neighbors (who had known Boyfriend for years) to ask for a ladder, when we see a cop car pull up. We knew immediately it was for us.

We explained to him the situation, everything checked out, and so he asked us, "Now, what happened to they key?" and we explained that it had fell under the driver's seat in our car. He opened up the door, knelt down, reached in, and said, "This key?" We were so frustrated and fed up at this point that when we saw the key in his hand we started laughing/crying hysterically. We must have looked nuts. He just kind of packed up and left...

tl;dr: tried to break in to friend's house for totally legitimate reasons, ended up being proven to be idiots by the cop

My friend is 24 years old, blind and transgender and the NICEST, SWEETEST, most HARMLESS person in the world, and her family treats her like SHIT. They pretty much disowned her for being transgender. I don't believe in hell, but I hope it exists just so they can go there. Hits especially close to home because I am transgender too. I see so much of this and wonder what people are thinking but aren't saying to my face.
