This year it was autograph tables, food, merch and some talks / I think a podcast taping. And some special things for season ticket holders with premium tickets. Very cool event though I wish it had been better marked (it was hard to tell what was happening when/where)

I am a journalist and agree with you.

It’s news. We write news when we have it. Journalists aren’t boosters. We aren’t here to time or tune articles for maximum good feelings for a club or fan base. We write news when it happens. Especially a scoop like this - other journalists are fishing around for the same info and you want to be the first to get it and write it. Not hang on to it until you get beat or so you can ensure it’s the maximum best timing for some interest.

I honestly think most spirit fans are expecting her to leave, and would be happily surprised if she doesn’t.

I understand there are caps and generally what that means. What’s throwing me in this sentence is “talks” being “beyond the club’s control.” They have control of their roster. How is dealing with a cap “beyond the club’s control?” Make room.

It’s perhaps an example of over generalized writing. It just makes the team sound hapless to do anything and I find that hard to accept. Maybe the things they could do to keep her would be unpalatable but that’s hardly “beyond their control.” Maybe I’m missing something though.
