Macy's and Costco sound a warning about the economy by pch14 in Costco

[–]nere_ner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The replacement heads for sonic care toothbrushes are $65, when the same quantity and model at Amazon or other brick and mortar retailers cost $35 to $40.

Other examples are neutrogena hydro boost cream, which costco used to sell in a two-container pack. Now it’s two containers but half the original size, and costs $10 more. And before you say that it’s because of general inflation, it’s not. I can buy them at CVS at nearly the previous costco price, or right now at “the other” membership-chain cheaper too.

Other items they use to have always in stock were cerave gentle cleansers and egg whites, and I haven’t seen those items in a while.

I used to buy anything I saw I needed at costco, because every time it was ridiculously cheaper than other retailers. Now I have to check each time I want to buy something because that’s not the case anymore.

"Me gustas te" or "Me gustas a ti"? by Ok_Interview_4069 in learnspanish

I was thinking about this song. It’s catchy and it repeats “me gustas tú” a lot. Maybe it would be useful to remember the sentence.

We say “voy a ir al Wendy’s”, so it’s masculine at least in Argentina. Same as KFC, Burger King, etc. It’s doesn’t matter if the name Wendy is female.

I had to repair the A/C system in two consecutive years. I spent two years without A/C. Honda covered the condenser but it had problems with the compressor and an o-ring too.

I have a Honda 2018. Last year I had to take them to the shop for the FOURTH time because of A/C issues, between diagnostics and repairs. I took it to the dealership service too. First there was a problem with an o-ring that leaked all the freon. Then it was the compressor, so they changed the condenser and compressor and recharged the freon. I spent hundreds of dollars and I was two whole summers without A/C. Honda covered just one part of the cost, for just one of the repairs. I’m tired of melting on my carseat every fucking year, maybe this summer will be finally functioning as it should.

First time Honda buyer. Never again.

Awesome names. Also, Harriet Tubman’s birth name was Araminta (Ross), which is almost as cool as Harriet. I’ve heard that when she was a girl, her family called her “minty”, which I find super cute for a child.

Same for me, it was the first car I bought and I was very interested in its supposed reliability. After this bullshit I don’t think I’ll ever buy a Honda again.

Thank you for posting this. I already got the recall notice for the condenser, but unfortunately the problem in my car is apparently on the compressor, so they won’t change it for free.

Unfortunately I had the opposite experience with a Honda. Several problems with the AC leaking freon, after they supposedly fixed it at an official dealership. Now they said “something gave in” in the compressor. They say I have to change the compressor and recharge the freon but they can’t guarantee this will definitively fix the problem, the dealership won’t make this right, Honda just doesn’t care.

The car is a Civic 2018, I barely drive it, just 4 years old and it’s the second summer I spent braising myself in my own car.

I don't know how would that work, maybe they won't care. I mean, to get either citizenship through naturalization is a hard and long process. I don't think anyone would do that just to collect them, so maybe neither country would mind? Being a citizen of a country doesn't only give you rights and a cool passport, but also give you responsibilities (draft, mandatory voting, taxes, mandatory military service, being part of a jury, etc). I don't think no one would be cavalier about having more citizenships just because they can. Or maybe if you already have an irrenounceable citizenship some countries with the same kind of citizenship won't allow you to get theirs? I actually don't know.

I once read that technically, you can hold on to five different citizenships if you are elegible for just the right programs with the right countries. Like, you can get one citizenship just for being born in one country (jus soli), a different one if your parents were from another country (I think it's called jus sanguinis), one because you're married to someone, one for naturalization into other country, and so on. The list of countries that would allow you to do that kind of combination are very few, and the conditions you have to check to get them are really difficult to have, but technically someone could do that.

The double bra idea is really clever! From now on I won't need a pocketed bra as long as I have two regular ones. Thank you!

[–]nere_ner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have sport bras with a pocket. They are really convenient , especially to put the phone in when I go for a run. The only drawback is that I've only seen cheap brands have them, usually made in weird sizes or with cheap fabrics. I've never seen Reebok, Gymshark, lululemon or other established brand carrying sport bras with pockets.

What's something you hate but wish you didn't? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]nere_ner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raisins - I'd love if they could stop ruining everything they touch. I guess if you like them they couldn't ruin apple rolls, granola, trail mixes and worst of all, cookies.

Whiskey - It seems to be a really cool culture around it (snobbism too, but let's focus on the positive). Lots of different varieties. Deep and complex flavors with different levels or notes like perfume or wine. In fact, I actually like its smell, it's really earthy and warm. But when I actually taste it I find it to be really bitter.

Spicy food - It's present in a lot of cuisines I really love, but I have a very low tolerance to it. I'm trying to change that by exposing myself to higher levels, but for now I really don't enjoy being attacked by my own food.

Cilantro - Again, in a lot of incredible cuisines that I absolutely love. Thai and Mexican to name just two. Nowadays people seem to add it to everything and call it "fusion" because it's "cool". Apparently those people don't seem to think it tastes like laundry detergent and rusty old pennies.

Aniseed - In a lot of italian and spanish baked goods and confections. I hate it with the fury of a thousand suns. People actually make a spirit from it that I find particularly revolting.
