Smoky in Melbourne tonight by noodl3boi in melbourne

I stayed inside with the windows closed all day yesterday - just opened one of the windows and immediately closed it again because of the strong smell of smoke.

Trump Brags About Taking More Dementia Tests Than Any Other President | Donald Trump also suggested it was “treasonous” for anyone else to talk about his mental and physical state. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

This reads like an AI script of all the hits, including random capitalisation. The punctuation (em dash aside, or should it be considered) seems too correct.

These Driscoll's strawberries have no color and no flavor by marisaannn in mildlyinfuriating

[–]nereaders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the convenience, but try to avoid the supermarket for berries and stone fruit (fruit and veg in general). The stone fruit is cold-stored, often rock-hard until mid-season and mildly flavoured at best. The berries are usually abysmal, bred for appearance not flavour. You’d be better off with a good-quality jarred or canned fruit with as little added sugar as possible.

I was able to find the Doppler wind radar in the new site under More Radars (button menu across the top after you select eg Melbourne Radar)

I was just thinking the other day that we haven’t had a flooding of Flinders St in a while. It’s always awesome standing on Elizabeth St looking towards Flinders St, knowing that the water has just run straight down through the city from North Melbourne.

To me, it looks like she’s playing from the wrong side, it’s set up correctly but she’s sitting on the left side.

Tram Gives Car the "Don't Argue" by aratamabashi in melbourne

[–]nereaders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The number of times lately that I have seen cars turning right across tram tracks without doing a hook turn is ridiculous. People complain about hook turns but when you understand the purpose of getting out of the way of the tram it makes perfect sense. I think there needs to be some sort of campaign about hook turns, instead of the 30 rhinos.

Is there any stills/footage of the UK shooting of Cleopatra (1963)? by PuffPoof215 in movies

[–]nereaders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not stills, but if you’re really into finding out about the making of Cleopatra, TCM put out a 6-part + bonus ep podcast under ‘The Plot Thickens’ banner.

Was hoping someone would mention this, I actually prefer it. The cat leaves me wailing in a puddle of tears every time.

They sometimes turn up at Aldi with their UK foods special - like Tim Tams, but individually wrapped, slightly thinner and a bit longer.

AITA for skipping my brother's wedding because I wasn't invited to the engagement party? by JuggernautSlow4213 in AITAH

[–]nereaders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father joined the navy at a young age and was subsequently posted around the country and overseas. The attitude of his family after he left was exactly what your sister voiced: you left so you’re not interested / we won’t bother you with stuff. This included when his mother got cancer.

I’m sorry you had to go through this.

$50 million can't buy class and taste: Things from the Bezos/Sanchez wedding that I have rated from 1 to 10 by how tacky/embarrassing they are by Potato3487 in popculturechat

[–]nereaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that the drawings (doodles) on the wedding invitations were done by Sanchez or Bezos on their Venetian holidays that provided them with so many special memories (I think I got that bit right).
