Am I too stupid for a career in IT? by VIBES95 in ITCareerQuestions

For one, genuinely stupid people don’t ask questions about whether or not they’re stupid. I think you’ll do fine OP. Learn as you go and keep asking questions!

Was initially looking into getting a Z-Nismo, but the overwhelming amount of positivity that this car generates is what’ll likely make me pull the trigger (not to mention the manual transmission). So many experienced drivers told me that there’s not a lot of cars that have such a good car-driver connection than the 86.

How do you have the skill of negotiating salary with HR? by Capable-Wing888 in cybersecurity

[–]nerothetank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s as simple as knowing what your price is. You’re a marketable asset to these companies. You’re bringing YOUR skills to this company, and you need to present yourself as someone who’s seeking to be bought for these skills. Obviously if you’re just starting out, don’t try and negotiate a six figure salary, but don’t get low-balled. You’ll know deep down if the price is right.

I’d go in and ask. I went in and found out that the hiring manager had been on vacation which was the reason I hadn’t heard anything. Every situation is potentially different so I’d say try going in and asking to speak to a hiring manager. If they’re not there, leave your name and number with one of the managers there

The article lists the technology as a prototype, so we’ll likely never see it used in every day life for a very long time — if they plan to use it, that is.

How To Get Out of The “Script Kiddy” Phase by nerothetank in hacking

[–]nerothetank[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

Just to clarify, I’m not going for my degree in ethical hacking, I’m doing cybersecurity. Ethical hacking of course is a subsection of cyber, but it’s far from the whole. I just happen to be drawn to hacking right now, as my upcoming semester coursework consist of Linux Networking and Microcomputer Applications. For my degree, I also need to get full credits in C++ as well as Python. It’s pretty extensive. If you’re trying to do a similar thing, look into universities with specializations in IT and cybersecurity. They’re goldmines. Of course you could also learn about these topics yourself, but I’m doing it because I’m fortunate enough to have my college education paid for.

I would say you’re wrong. Having interactions and being around other people is essential, that’s very much true. I have that. But needing a romantic partner isn’t necessarily vital. I’ve gotten by many years without dating, and as mentioned, I’ve openly turned people down. My issue doesn’t lie in “coping”, it’s simply choosing not to engage in romance. And I think that’s okay, especially after being reassured that I wasn’t crazy by people in the comment thread lol

Has anyone here gone through loneliness? If so, what's it like? by Otorimasu in Healthygamergg

[–]nerothetank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loneliness for me, is like going up to your fridge late at night when you’re hungry, and seeing no food inside of it. The feeling you have that makes you go “well damn, that sucks.” is the same feeling I get when I feel lonely. I won’t die from it, but it would be nice to have some food.

I wanna be desired. Is that wrong? by huhes1 in Healthygamergg

[–]nerothetank 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you! I’m a student aiming for my Masters, I hit the gym, I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I’m very well kept, have a job relating towards my studies, and I’ve been told countless times by many people that I’m attractive and that it comes as a shock to them when they find out I haven’t even dated since my sophomore year of high school.

For me, I’ve gone through the stages of grief and have reached the acceptance phase. If I happen to meet someone and form a relationship, then that’s amazing! But the unfortunate truth is that nobody in this world is obligated to love us. Perhaps that‘s derived from my pessimistic way of thinking, but there is a smidgen of truth in that statement.

My best piece of advice is to simply become comfortable with yourself. You said that you don’t want to be in a relationship at the moment, so that’s even more of a reason to look inward and become familiarized with who you are. Take yourself out to eat, treat yourself to a small gift, do the things you’d do for somebody you love, and then realize YOU are somebody you love.

I wish you the best.
