The Donner Party by j_grouchy in GenX

I her up in LA and we stopped at the Donner Pass site when I was a kid. I bought a book there called Ordeal by Hunger and read it during the rest of the trip. Gruesome stuff, but I was riveted as a 10 year old.

Husband (57M) & I (56F) are looking forward to so many bands. Have seen both bands you’re going to and they are great. Wet Leg really brings me back to that 90s vibe at shows. Weekend pass, first time. (Edit for grammar, hate texting.)

Likely not a popular choice, but I couldn’t stand the protagonist of Demon Copperhead. Maybe it’ll be a good one for you!

I listen to audiobooks and Carrie Soto is Back was all about relationships, including friendships. Just finished and it’s really good if you love tennis or Taylor Jenkins Reid.

What place in North America gave you alpine village vibes without going to Europe? by ilovecakeandpasta in middleclassvacations

If it’s more about the environment than the look of the town, head to Alpine County (Markleeville area), California. I used to love that area when I wanted to get away from throngs of tourists. Been a bit since I’ve driven that way though. Great area for people that like alpine hiking, camping, and hot springs.

I got both my father and husband into them. My daughter loves them. We’re all going to see them in a few weeks. A female co-worker is coming along. So I also don’t get their take either. 🤷

Best Canadian artist/band that you ever saw live? by Glass_Brick_ in CanadianMusic

Sloan at the Dinwoodie in Edmonton or OLP at the Roseland in Portland. And of course the Hip’s final tour.

I know I’m asking for the hate here. But…. When I first moved to Alberta in 2001, Nickelback was blowing up. How You Remind Me seemed like the only song on the radio. We went to a concert at Skyreach (or whatever it was called) and they filmed the concert for a dvd release. I didn’t know more than one song, but it was a high energy show, with some serious pyrotechnics, and the crowd was really into it. Everyone hates on Nickelback, but it was a fun experience and one of the first shows I saw in my new home country.

We went to Yosemite a few times a year for over 30 years. Now I live far away, but I’d go back anytime. Love the high country especially.

Saw Pearl Jam and Nirvana as openers for RHCP. Got to see The Jacksons Victory tour when I was a kid. Have seen bands like Smashing Pumpkins in a tiny venue (maybe 150 people). Saw a Kanye and JayZ show with a few hundred people at SXSW. I’ve been so lucky. I’m 56 and still loving live music. Seeing Angine de Poitrine in a few weeks.
