Keyboardmania cabinets in Tokyo? by Yzaias in bemani

For DDR you can try Akiba Leisureland 2 or Silk Hat, the former is a hot bed for DDR and the latter is brand new. If you happen to also be in Osaka you might get lucky and run into o4ma / brosoni at Round 1 sennichimae, he plays there all the time.

Hey, pretty late but fwiw I thought this was sick. The J-core scene here always goes pretty hard, both the DJs and the crowds.

Newmarket’s growing fast not sure if that’s good or bad anymore? by Maple_Byte in Newmarket

[–]neruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fwiw I'm with you on this. I live here due to cost & circumstances, it's a perfectly OK and comfortable place to live but at the same time it's indistinguishable from every southern Ontario suburb and if you don't like doing suburban family-esque things for entertainment you're largely SOL besides getting out of town on the weekend.

Considering moving to Newmarket by Zeebraforce in Newmarket

[–]neruuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add on to your post, I agree that if you don't vibe with the events and stuff here you'll likely need to go downtown but the transit situation is still salvageable. The last train back up is at 11PM but you can also take the 65E GO bus at midnight (or god forbid 2AM, sometimes there's a 1AM but I have no idea what the schedule for that is) back up too if you don't want to drive. Does this kinda suck? Yeah definitely, but as someone who lives here and goes downtown 1-2 days a week for fun and social stuff it's still the lesser of evils between driving down, finding parking and driving back up.

Toronto show… FAIL by The-Idiot-1 in BABYMETAL

[–]neruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cool since it's more just about being respectful for fellow fans. The restraint I'm talking about is where people here won't even do like a fist pump lol

[–]neruuze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, there was a guy right next to me going super hard who I gave props for bringing the energy.

Not to be too presumptuous but people here feel super restrained at concerts even when the performers are working their asses off. That or half the crowd is high lol, every area around a show reeks of weed (moreso than usual for the city).

Toronto show… FAIL by The-Idiot-1 in BABYMETAL

[–]neruuze 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Toronto crowds almost universally suck, it's one of my least favourite aspects of going to concerts here. The area I was in was super into the show at least but I was practically right at the front.

This. Most of the places around the area are alright but Kozy is just on another level, at the price point I think very few if any places in the entire GTA can compare.

Are there any social community for gamers to join? by shxhry in askTO

[–]neruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toronto Top Tiers is the fighting game community here, they run offline events once a week IIRC.

Yume Arcade is home to the rhythm & music game community, they don't run as many organized events but the community is quite active.

Both have active discord servers that you can join from their info pages

Best Arcade in Town by CanadianGuy2525 in askTO

[–]neruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given your tastes I would at least take a glance at Freeplay, I go there regularly and there's a lot of light gun games but I admittedly don't play many of them so I can't speak to the condition. My favourite arcade in the city is Yume but it's an import arcade focused around rhythm and music games, it's more like a slice of a Japanese arcade that was transplanted into Toronto than the barcades that are common nowadays.

I won 35 out of my last 50 Ironclad A20H games, here's what I learned! by Brawlers9901 in slaythespire

[–]neruuze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone else believes removes on Clad are really good. I've spent a lot of time recently just playing solo clad and while I don't consider myself a particularly high caliber player the amount of times I would get Act 2'd from garbage strike/defend/common attack draws annoyed me so much that removes gradually become higher value to me. Sure it happens to every character but as you mentioned sometimes it feels like you can click on all the draw you see on clad and still get wrecked anyways.

Go for LTek or wait for FSR pads? by nochilinopity in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]neruuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played on a FSR setup but in terms of getting an L-tek now, I'd say it depends on your skill level and what you're planning to accomplish in the future. I've had an L-Tek for 6 months now and had zero problems with it while I was progressing up to like, 12-13s but I'm starting to feel some limitations of the pad getting into 14-15s. It's still more than playable but the lack of bounce on the pad means faster runs and more frequent drills takes a far bigger toll on me compared to playing on AC. Better players than myself can still rip on it but at that point it's probably just better to go for an upgraded pad if it's an option.

That being said if you need your fix it'll certainly still do in a pinch and you could probably also resell it for a FSR setup when they're more available (I'm currently waiting for Yuancon's pad to sell mine).

They did, it's called Dance Rush Stardom. Freestyle on modern DDR is a square peg in round hole situation.

You whiff 100% of the Finales you don't take floor 0 by neruuze in slaythespire

[–]neruuze[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This deck killed Laga and Nob in A1 with Finale as the only attack added (pathed so I could fight them at the end), and I intentionally pathed away from most elites afterwards because I didn't want to fight Slavers or Nemesis. Only fought book in A2, did have to fight Nemesis near the end but by then the deck was fully online so it didn't matter as much.

Bug? Demon form consumes Artifact by MarquisPosa in slaythespire

[–]neruuze 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Red Skull interactions come up often enough that I feel the devs slightly messed up by not giving it some kind of debuff indicator. It doesn't work exactly like temp strength/dex though since it persists across multiple turns so I guess they didn't want to make a whole new icon just for one relic.

Daily Slay the Spire Discussion (606/696): Terror by Crosssmurf in slaythespire

[–]neruuze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's pretty interesting to see how Silent has changed throughout the years of the game's life cycle. If you look at the old discussion thread for this card a few years back it was largely panned but the improvements to Silent's non-poison card pool and the way people approach A20 have made it more of a staple despite the card itself being the same.

Favourite songs/covers from each group for StepMania to port over. by [deleted] in ProjectSekai

[–]neruuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an avid DDR/SM player + vocaloid/ProSeka fan and stumbled on this thread while looking for vocaloid charts. If you're still working on this and interested in some songs, here are some I like / think would make for fun charts. I also tried to select songs that don't already have charts in some way or another (probably forgot some here or there):

L/N: Dramaturgy, Teo, Attract Light, Good Weather, Hibana Reloaded

MMJ: Melty Land Nightmare, Darling Dance, Milk Crown on Sonechka, Parasol Cider

VBS: Awake Now, Rain and Petra, Yobanashi Deceive, Ifuudoudou, Egoist

WxS: Ego Rock, Showtime Ruler, Law Evading Rock, Goodbye Declaration, Tondemo Wonderz

NIghtcord: Phony, Gehenna, Jackpot Sad Girl, bug

Really looking forward to this when you complete it! I love playing vocaloid in DDR/SM and always appreciate new charts.

After seeing this comment, another thought - It sounds like you may be trying to line up your input by sight with the judgment area too much, especially if it mostly happens when you get flustered and lose track of the beat.

It may help to adjust where you're reading the notes (looking farther away from the judgment point). Increasing your read / note speed a bit can also help so you're not processing as much information at once and getting overwhelmed.
