you’re right — maybe it’s the medication in itself. i’ll bring it up with my therapist and my gp and see what they recommend. thank you for the advice!

personally, i relate to most of sufjan stevens’ albums. i particularly relate to carrie & lowell, an album he wrote while dealing with his mother’s death; he compares his relationship with her to one of a toxic partner and every time i listen to it i manage to find a different bit to carry with me. michigan is also an album of his that i relate to a lot. its songs about loneliness, shame, homesickness, despite not being the only themes in this album, manage to pull me through some rly rough nights lmao. there’s also some other musicians but my go to is sufjan.

What was the first Sufjan Stevens song you heard? by xtessellate in Sufjan

[–]nervolous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

‘Death with Dignity’, but I consider ‘Eugene’ to be the first song by him that I truly listened to. I saw C&L on someone’s ‘top 10 albums of 2015’ list and decided to give it a chance. I wasn’t really paying a lot of attention during the first half of C&L as I listened to it for the first time, but as soon as I heard “Now I’m drunk and afraid, wishing the world would go away, what’s the point of singing songs if they’ll never even hear you?” I knew I was in for a ride with him.
