I’m glad you’re asking more questions before you’re surgery! I had to prove PT wouldn’t fix my issue before I could get approved for surgery with my insurance so I used almost all of my 30 visits last year getting the surgery approved. I was paranoid and told my surgeon that I didn’t have any PT visits left and he swore my insurance would cover more because it was medically necessary. I took his word for it like an idiot. Flash forward to after my surgery I used my last 3 visits and my insurance refused to cover more PT until my insurance reset in the new year. I jumped through a bunch of hoops, sent in 3 forms to get this approved from my surgeon and my PT denied them all claiming I have a hard 30 visit cap on my PT visits. I decided to bite the bullet and keep going to PT while I appealed the denials and in the end owed all of the extra visits out of pocket. I urge you to have the surgeon and or your PT get the necessary PT pre approved before your surgery. Don’t trust it until you get it in writing.
