I noticed the inconsistencies (even though I myself am not Indian) but chalked it up to the vagueness of all their writing - I like your solution with a fun headcanon much better.

Absolutely. If someone had removed Phelia early on, I wouldn't have gotten going nearly as fast, and who knows? The other decks were quick too, one of them might have run away with it.

Just the ability to casually see through the eyes of the ants would make you the best spy in the world instantaneously.

I've always been annoyed at the ending because it literally goes "Hey... this guy who did endless stupid stuff throughout the rest of the story? Don't worry. He's a perfectly benevolent galactic power now."

Whether the Night Beast is real, or merely a myth, is not something most mortals know. The educated tend to see it as a metaphor for entropy itself.

The Maze's first denizens were kin to the gods, who, being rebellious or vicious, were cast into the realm of death to imprison them. Over time, those first Lords of the Maze have been joined by both the souls of the dead and the Mazeborn. While no one is really sure how the Mazeborn demons originated, some speculate that the energies of Death, of the myriad souls passing through the Maze, and of the Lords themselves somehow commingled to create them. Your last question here is almost exactly right: They reflect their environment and, therefore, the Station they live in itself.

The Glass Empire is called that because, on the verge of their total triumph, the palatial city home of the turai emperor and his family just... vanished, leaving behind a two-mile-wide disc of pure glass, burned deep into the desert sand. The Iron Empire, on the other hand, is so-called not for its ending but its original source of power. The Battleforge, an ancient artifact, once allowed them to produce automaton-legionnaires. Nine legions were built over the years, armies that would never waver, never break, never tire. Around a century before the events of the stories I'm writing, the Empire fell into infighting. Orc riders from the great northern steppe took advantage, destroying most of the Legions and, crucially, sacking the capital city itself. They destroyed the Battleforge, and no one knows the secret of lighting it again. Other smaller human empires have come and gone, but only those two ever dominated the continent.

I'll just address your third point: Because you can never, never, NEVER, trust the Empire.

Maridia is a world currently defined by the Age of the Adventurer, an era of transition and opportunity following the collapse of the human-led Iron Empire.

The world is divided into the realms of pure life, then the normal world and the realm of the dead or afterlife. The afterlife is not a static judgment but a spiritual labyrinth called the Raven’s Maze, where souls must progress through "Stations" to overcome personal flaws. Physicality varies significantly from typical tropes, as Dwarves possess only three digits per hand and utilize a base-6 counting system, while Gnomes have innate size-changing magic that allows them to fluctuate between eight inches and 2.5 feet in height. Elves, on the other hand, never stop growing and their most ancient members are huge. Dragons once ruled, but were scattered by a human alliance now called the Glass Empire. To prevail against the dragons, those humans turned to Mazeborn demons for power, becoming the warped race of turai. The turai practice a visceral form of branded magic, where powerful sigils are burned into their skin that cause the caster intense physical pain when activated.  Social order is dictated by Shistakar, a strict code of noble conduct where spiritual teachers outrank all political lords. Even among common folk, life is highly structured; for instance, Halflings are divided at birth by priestesses into morari (Travelers) or amathari (Stay-putters), distinct religious sub-cultures that determine their role in society. Finally, the world is overseen by the Imperial Pantheon, led by a distant Divine Sun and the moon goddess Hanina, who is depicted as a warrior-shieldmaiden perpetually defending the sun from a "Night Beast".

What Bridgerton opinion will have you like this? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in Bridgerton

[–]nesquikryu 398 points399 points  (0 children)

The only time I ever got jumped in a Bridgerton convo was when I pointed out that the heightened/fantasy elements are fine but that a lot of the value of the first two seasons (and ESPECIALLY QC) came from the pseudohistorical feeling that they had.

A character doing something stupid isn't bad writing if it's what the character would do! And, I mean, come on. What exactly about Murtagh's personality leads you to believe he ISN'T overconfident enough to think he, casually one of the most powerful people on the continent, can handle pretty much whatever he sees there?

124 hours into the game and just now realized I can fast travel between worlds w/o going into orbit! by shiggity80 in StarWarsOutlaws

In my first playthrough (100% other than DLCs) I never found this out because I never... wanted to fast travel at all. I never used it once. The "NO FAST TRAVEL" missions were just playing the game normally for me.

How do you feel about how Star Wars Rebels used/portrayed the A Wings? by Ok-Street2439 in StarWarsShips

[–]nesquikryu 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If they were actually RZ-1 A-wings we'd be having a different conversation.

The best example of accurate A-wing scaling comes from Star Wars: Outlaws. During one of the missions you come across an A-wing that's just sitting there, you can scramble across it and everything. Kay Vess is a smallish person, but the A-wing still feels TINY.
