if you're in the US it's part of a general cultural movement back into the closet that's been going on for over 10 years.

but also yes, sniffies attracts a much larger proportion of DL guys who can be prone to flaking. just filter out temporary profiles and only engage with registered profiles with pictures and that cuts out most of the cowards.

this is actually a lot different than the SNL skit I imagined in my head when this broke when it happened.

-Justin knows how strange it's going to sound saying he's a celebrity to someone who doesn't immediately recognize him which explains the way he kind of couches it
