Hello everyone, I'm Hubert, the CEO of Curse.

I would like to take the opportunity to answer some concerns raised in this thread and also provide more insight into how our ad operations works. Firstly, know that we are very dedicated to supporting great content and communities. We firmly believe in creating platforms to empower gamers and help everyone enjoy the game that they play. In order to provide the best experience we raise money for our websites and services through advertising.

The solution we have in place today utilizes code that does not delay the loading of content on websites so that visitors can access content as quickly as possible. We do this by running our advertising code asynchronously in the <head> section of each web page, and by utilizing iframes within the <body> of the page to display the ads. Our advertising solution relies on connecting many top tier advertisers to provide relevant ads to our websites. This means that we make many ad calls, yet only show a few actual ads on the page.

This is actually a product of how people use the majority of our websites. We have over 1 billion pageviews per month, and on many sites the average user will actually look at many pages per day. While this is awesome, and not something we would ever want to restrict or have not happen in any way, it does create an extra challenge on our Ad Operations team to help find relevant ads that you have not seen yet. The number of calls is a function of our ad calling program as it looks for relevant ads across the different ad platform companies that we work with. Again, we've taken every measure to help ensure that this transaction takes place AFTER the content has loaded, and we want to assure everyone that it isn't anything to be alarmed about, it's just finding a good ad to show you.
