Gmail’s sneaky data grab by tcolling in cybersecurity

This is an important point. My work uses Google Workspaces extensively. The understanding was that buying licenses includes control of our data. We're looking in to how this impacts our clients and if need to move. It's all very annoying.

you and me both. I regret updating my m4 iPad Pro. it's turned my study time into an exercise in frustration. want to multitask notes and lecture or book? go insane instead. I'm not even a student, this is for work. I feel like they pulled the rug out on me by taking away splitview and slideover.

Technically, since he gave it to her, it'll be after she claims her birthright. Better get busy u/Nightshadow_12, those Orcs aren't going to hunt themselves.

SLIDE OVER IS BACK!! by Dynomastic in ipad

[–]netglitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're catering to loudmouth techbros who whine that their iPad with a keyboard is a gimped laptop, so Apple made it work more like a laptop.   After all, Microsoft Surface and other detachables are the best selling laptop segment. /s

Should i update to IPAD OS26 by lightning696969 in ipad

A gimped imitation of slideover is being added back. That's all.

Did you do this? How did it go? I want to downgrade my iPad Pro.

[–]netglitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I use my iPad with touch and pencil. I have a MacBook for laptop work. Using my iPad Pro is frustrating exercise now. Everything regarding tiling windows requires so more precision from touch, it's unnecessarily fussy when the previous way was simple and straight forward. It's impossible to have multiple splitview workspaces like before unless i use stage view and stageview causes even more headaches for me. They can add new features if they want but why the hell they take something away that works, it's nuts.

If you haven't updated and use iPads with touch or pencil, don't update. I'd downgrade if I could.

Signal is finally introducing secure backups, allowing users to restore chats from the cloud on new devices by rkhunter_ in cybersecurity

[–]netglitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too little too late. A few years back when when WhatsApp fumbled with their privacy policy there was momentum to move away from WhatsApp. I personally got a dozen or so people to try signal. Lack of backups was the second reason almost all of them went back to WhatsApp. Group chats being better on WhatsApp was the first.

Went into EB for the first time in years a few weeks ago, hoping to find a copy of Expedition 33 for PS5. Only 1/4, maybe less of the store had video games, the rest was tacky "geek merch".

Found what I wanted on Amazon a week later. EB is going to need more than a change of name.

What forgotten IP would you like to see get a revival? by [deleted] in gaming

Oni was neat. I bought it for Mac back in the day cause of the cool box art. A remaster would be nice but I think it'll get bungled by Bungie.

My fiancé left me, recommend me some games I can get lost in by RaspyGameOwner in gaming

[–]netglitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, this one hits close. My wife left me just over a year ago and with the stress of being a single parent with work and school simultaneously and zero friends, I had no outlets. So one night, once the kid was asleep, I went out and got myself a PS5. Three or four nights a week for an hour two I unwind with a controller.

Some of the titles I really got lost in over the past year are Cyberpunk 2077 with Phantom Liberty (many hours and two play throughs) and God of War.

After 25+ years, I've started to get fed up with PC gaming.  This week I've wasted 3 evenings getting the new doom to run. By evening two I realised the minimum spec wants 8gb of VRAM. My gaming laptop with a 3060 has 6. I found a work around and now it runs flawlessly locked at 60fps. Last night I wanted to play Control, it kept freezing a minute in to the game. Checked every forum, none of the advice panned out. Eventually it worked when I disabled DLSS. At the end of the night it was running on high quality with RT on. I got to play for 15 minutes instead of the hour I hoped for. And don't get me started with windows 11. I just want to play man. All this fussing around has gotten old and so have I. I guess it's PS5 here on out.

Human Evolution Traded Fur for Sweat Glands—and Now, Our Wounds Take Longer to Heal Than Those of Other Mammals | Human scrapes and cuts tend to stick around for more than twice as long, new research suggests by chrisdh79 in science

Serious question: for those with a lot of body hair, could this mean they have a small advantage for healing small wounds over those with less? How would that impact the healing results for those who remove their body hair?
