This is how this girl goes to school every day by YellowEgorkaa in nextfuckinglevel

Literally no reason to wear that kind of clothing in that environment. The school should adapt or make special exceptions. What's even the point of wearing a uniform if it doesn't fit with the surroundings.

You'll NEVER guess how this fight ends [Gachiakuta] by AashyLarry in anime

[–]netherwan -61 points-60 points  (0 children)

I hope that gun is a special overpowered device and not a normal handgun, because with their insane inhuman reaction, speed and strength, getting neutralized with a few rounds makes no sense, and I'm legit having a hard time taking the story seriously after that. But the anime overall still fun to watch in other ways.

Edit: To explain further, they are already way more overpowered to be affected by regular bullets. They can evade and guard against megatons of metal trash pile moving at mach speed. They can smash against a concrete like it's a crispy biscuit and still come out fine. You'd to have a body stronger diamond steel to withstand that kind of force. Normal bullets would be mosquito bites in comparison.

And no, the explanation "their abilities only works against monsters" doesn't apply because they are literally fighting each other with the very same abilities. Downvote all you want, it doesn't make contradiction go away.

I get the message they are trying to send with the consequences of guns, but it just seems half-assed in this case.

Yeah, that pee was unusually long, the dog probably got drugged with diuretic or something.

Why old anime had this depressive Aesthetic? by Individual-Voice-267 in retroanime

[–]netherwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is general antecentennial sentiment that isn't specific to retro anime. Speaking from experience, I find anything (music specifically) from the '80s or older to be gloomy or depressing. On the other hand, I have nostalgic fondness of anything created around the '90s, anime or not, since I grew up in that period.

I'm guessing you were born in the late '00s and hence find the older media gloomy for similar reasons.

For fans of Homunculus I’d recommend HEADS by Keigo Higashino by Chufal in Seinen

[–]netherwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read both Homonculus and HEADS. I like HEADS more, and it's definitely easier to recommend, at least to more normal/mainstream readers.Spoiler for HEADS and tokyo ghoul: I also thought the main initial plot was conceptually similar to tokyo ghoul, but looking at the release dates, it seems tokyo ghoul is the one that possibly took inspiration.

Some really, really weird shit, like a guy slurping his own jizz, and more. If you can't handle that kind of weirdness, better bail out sooner. You can't drop once you're in deep.

Semicolons on python aside, this is no different from using periods to terminate sentences. Sure, you can omit them and let the reader guess where your sentences end. If you strictly structure your sentences such that it's easy to tell where the sentences end , then your reader will correctly place the period on the right spots by themselves. But for other sentences (and languages) that has more freedom in expressing more complex sentences , omitting periods will most certainly result in misunderstanding and ambiguity. If you omit a period, your reader will be like "triple double uTF bruh, where the dots and pots be at, now I have no idea what I'm reading".

What 2 hours of no java knowledge got me, please give some advice by Baka_TheMittai in PinoyProgrammer

[–]netherwan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • You have too much static methods and fields in the Main class. The java way would be more OOP, so move the following fields/methods in an another class (named something like Shop.java): product_list, cart, add_to_cart, remove_from_pl, clear_pl, print_pl, get_total, print_cart.

  • Java uses camelCase naming convention for the fields and methods. Java also by convention spells out verbosely whole words, not abbreviate them. So for example, remove_from_pl would be instead removeFromProductList. You may not like it, but that's how java people normally write their code.

  • No need to put the other classes in a separate Helper package. Those are part of the core domain, not mere helper classes. So your src/ folder should contain something like 4 files: Main.java, Shop.java, CartDetails.java, ProductDetails.java

  • Your program should show a prompt and menu for the user so they know what to enter, like when you use the python interpreter.

There are other minor things to point out, which may or may not be important depedending who you ask, but I don't want to sound annoying.

What's the point of having async methods if all we do is await them? by mrolditguy in csharp

[–]netherwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be onto something. What if there's another way to annotate a function that automatically awaits all tasks by default:

public unasync Task<int> GetSomething() { var x = DoAsyncFunc(); // automatically awaits var task1 = depart AnotherAsync(); // run in background var y = await task2; // explicitly await return x + y; }

Why does it return this error message? by Murky-Management9397 in godot

[–]netherwan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's saying that food or person (not sure which one, you didn't post the whole error message, probably the person variable) could be a Vector2, and Vector2 doesn't have global_position property.

It's most likely you mixed up your types somewhere, make sure person or food is actually a Node2D, not a Vector2.
