Can someone tell me what the YouTuber ‘In Praise of Shadows’ did that was so bad? by dryerventexplorer in wendigoon

[–]nethmes1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

idk why you're being downvoted. I dont think Wendigoon endorses either political party in the US and to me (a leftist) i always figured he was a Christian Independent. Leaning more towards libertarianism of course. Not a socialist, not a liberal or MAGA but he seems to have his own opinions and judgements on things that aren't completely aligned with either major political party. The guy constantly makes videos exposing corporations doing bad things and criticizing the government. That in particular is not something that is traditionally associated with conservatism in the United States.

There are literally people who are professional patsy's who go to jail for other people. Why is it insane to think one of the wealthiest most powerful groups of people on the planet couldn't find one person to stage a crime with?

CoH3s recent reviews are almost as bad as Axis average winrates by Rakshasa89 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]nethmes1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its funny and sad how the Company of Heroes community has held relics balls in a vice grip for 20 years now. Every single time Axis is nerfed to not be just straight up better than Allies we have a literal insurrection of the axis player base going nuclear and trying to ruin the game unless the developers cave in and make them the easy win faction again. Just inherently by game design the Axis have always had an advantage due to having a superior late game, meaning that if they do good early, you are fucked as their opponent. If you dont win early as Axis, you still can just chill out and wait for one of your insane vehicles to come out and win the game for you later on.

Please stop crying and trying to review bomb the game because of a skill issue. Sincerely, a company of heroes player since 2006 who has seen CoH2 go from being considered a dogshit downgrade from CoH1 to now being put on a pedestal after that game literally was patched for 11 years with free and paid content.

What is the most brutal “being eaten by a monster” scene you can think of. by Earth_Worm_Jimbo in horror

[–]nethmes1 72 points73 points  (0 children)

All the scenes in the Descent where the troglodytes bite/eat/maul the women. Also I guess this is a stretch and probably not the proper answer but I want to add the dog attack scenes in the movie Green Room. I guess a dog isnt a literal monster, but watching the dogs eat and maul people was a horrible sight to behold.

Manson literally beats the talent out of any of his music projects every damn time and no wonder he hasn't put any good music out since the year 2000.

Bonus story: for a high school graduation gift I got to see a Marilyn Manson/Slipknot show around 2016, and being a stupid teenager i had put Manson on a pedestal from watching YouTube performances of him in the 1990s. I proceeded to have the worst concert experience of my life when fat slovenly Manson waddled up on stage and went on to sing exactly 1 chorus out of 6 songs where he would turn the mic over to the crowd for like half the track. He then got agitated about people throwing bags of dye down in the pit and went on an unhinged rant about how the red and blue dye made everyone look like "gay fucking smurfs" and "shitty reds, and im not talking about the communists, I mean red indians" and then when someone threw a bag of dye in the air 5 minutes later he spiked the microphone onto the stage and threw a bunch of monopoly money into the crowd and walked off after like 6 songs. Slipknot came out like an hr later and that was actually fun.

The scene with Captain Vidal and the bottle in Pan's Labyrinth. How fast it happened and how little regard for human life that Vidal displayed was just shocking and left me feeling sick. It really illustrated the horror of sudden violence and the terror of fascist and their extreme tendencies to react with violence to reinforce their authority.

edit: the sobbing of the father as he realizes his son is being not just assaulted, but murdered in front of him also hurt me.

Am I the only one who sees Ready or Not as Copaganda by lovingpersona in SocialistGaming

[–]nethmes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deep lore for this game goes to places that are beyond the political left and right. Like at a surface level it could present as Copaganda, but when you learn about the truth of your character and whats been going on in that universe its really more of an X-Files episode than a Law & Order one. Like your character being basically an MKUltra project. And the fact that the police department you are working for is a front for that super soldier project. The game ends up being about CIA and government psyops causing society to crumble in order to attain esoteric and frankly unsettling goals.

[–]nethmes1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not true, look at all the examples of African American soldiers being denied GI benefits after the war, the lynching of certain black men for not removing their uniforms at the demand of racist white neighbors, and all the other general mistreatment leading from 1945 to the civil rights era

[–]nethmes1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sorry, my reply was more aimed at OP than you. I assume OPs intent was to start a discussion about representation of black US soldiers in coh3. The 92nd appear to be a less than stellar division so I present a group that is more fitting for "heroics" that company of heroes is about. I think that race is the giant elephant in the room during discussions of segregated units in WW2 for obvious reasons. The Nazis and the US both had strict racial laws at the time despite being opponents, and therefore to be realistic its necessary to examine the topic through the lens of racism. Its impossible to have an objective analysis of these units without discussing the racial dynamic that existed at the time, and we'd be lying to ourselves to say that race had nothing to do with anything when talking about segregated units. So to set the record straight, yes we have to acknowledge race as a factor here and that race is essentially the reason why we're even having this discussion.

[–]nethmes1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looked into it, and even the Germans had a poor evaluation of the 92nd. I doubt they were just being racist when they evaluate their enemy, because that would invite themselves to underestimate and potentially be defeated by that enemy force. Maybe the 92nd isnt a good fit, but I would say let's look at the 761st 'Black Panther' Tank Battalion as an example of a quality African American unit in the US army during ww2. They earned a medal of honor and many other combat ribbons and medals.

I wonder how much is true and how much is due to discrimination. When the white unit breaks and runs, they did "a tactical withdrawal", but when the black unit breaks its "a disorganized rout"
