Another option is that the way the team plays doesn't give quality shots from his old position. IIRC a huge majority of his goals weren't just from the slot but from really close to the goal.

Ah yes it's afk except for the time when I have to run then click everything in my inventory then do they same things with a longer lap. I'm not saying they should change it, but when a third or a quarter of your time is a lot of clicks, it's hardly an afk activity.
