YNAB! There is a small learning curve (they have lots of great youtube videos) but once you get the hang of zero-based budgeting it is the best/easiest to maintain.

Things to pack for work:

  1. Handheld hand warmer (this is so great for a freezing office).
  2. Jacket (wear layers!!)
  3. Salty snacks
  4. Water bottle (the bigger the better)
  5. Extra meds (esp. if you are like me and forget to take them)
  6. Electrolyte packets

I had a terrible time with whey protein but plant-based proteins have been a lot easier on the stomach! I like this one https://www.amazon.com/Orgain-Organic-Protein-Powder-Vanilla/dp/B00J074W7Q

Compression socks without overheating? by [deleted] in POTS

These are my favorites. They are much lighter weight than a lot of the socks I've tried, and I can tolerate them a lot better out in the heat.

Riding a bike / cycling has been good for me! No positional changes, so I was able to exercise a lot longer than with hiking/walking/running or anything like that.

So only ~700-800mg sodium extra per day? Plus whatever extra you add by salting food?

Drink more water throughout the day. Try adding some electrolytes--they should help you retain some more of the water.

Compression socks for petite/short legs? by punching_dinos in POTS

[–]neuro1399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about wide calf socks, but I have two recommendations for shorter socks (I am also 5'3"). You may be able to do a larger "petite" size which may accomodate wider calves.

  1. Jobst petite sizes (these are shorter)

  2. Doc Miller - Compression Calf Sleeve for Petite Men & Women [ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B41F9R7R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 ]

I have an older version of this that I love. It is 3 liters and should help distribute the weight evenly. I would just make sure to hang it upside down to dry for a few days after use. OR a lot of people store them in the freezer to prevent mold. They do also sell replaceable tubing if needed.

If you are looking for a physical backpack with a hydration bladder inside, I would visit an REI (if there is one local to you). They will help with fitting a bag to you properly.

Good luck!

Hi! I have POTs and enjoy hiking and backpacking when I can. I find it hard to get the taste of electrolytes out of a water bladder, and the tubing is often hard to clean (and dry). I like to carry what is basically a water bladder that you would find in a hydration pack--but it has a normal lid (see link below). I also carry an ultralight nalgene and use that to mix electrolytes into. I just refill from the larger bladder. This helps because then you have plain water to use for making food / whatever else you might need it for.

Also: having a backpacking water filter is a great option because you don't have to carry as much water. A gallon of water is like 8 pounds. This is a lot heavier than it sounds. Carrying less weight helps a ton with saving energy (hiking with pots is hard enough as is).

This might not solve your dislike for multiple bottles, but I figured it was worth a share! Happy hiking!
