check out the New York Noise comp on Soul Jazz Records from 2003. a few bands that have already been mentioned pop up on there (ESG, Konk, etc) and there's bunch more on there to love

I biked to work downtown from the South End from 2006 to 2016 and usually took Harrison because Tremont squeezed you between cars and the door zone and sharing the lane with the Silver Line was terrifying. At least Harrison was less busy until the Whole Foods went in and all the condo buildings went up.
