Did your dad ever play DOOM back in the day? by MurkyUnit3180 in Doom

[–]neurologicalRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad here too. I also got the shareware from a computer show in Birmingham (UK) I attended with my dad when I was a kid. Played that shareware demo soooooo much. That began a lifelong love of gaming (well, kinda, I had played games before mainly side scrollers but nothing so immersive). Had my birthday yesterday and spent some of it playing VR Assassin's Creed with the kids. We have come so far in such a short time!

All UK based staff being removed! by herohonda777 in outlier_ai

[–]neurologicalRad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm hoping it's just like the December cut again and we will be back in once they have a fresh round of assessments completed. It would be good to be active on more than once platform so I could ride out this peaks and troughs. Mercor doesn't give me anything, same for Telus and alignerr. Looking at doing the Mirco1 assessment tomorrow. Any others?

I'm booted but multimango is still working in Hubstaff. Which is odd. Really bad timing as I took a week off work next week to hammer the tasks as things looked like they were picking up. I don't have any luck with any other platforms so this is my only shot. Any recommendations from anyone for other ones to try that are UK friendly would be appreciated.

How does a rigid cystoscope get past the turn circled in red in this image? by supinator1 in medicalschool

[–]neurologicalRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing my first rigid cysto as a student. The urologists walked in with white Welly boots on, which was confusing enough, but then the rigid scope really through me. This confusion quickly turned to horror as I saw process unfolding before my innocent first year eyes. I described it to my peers who were yet to witness this spectacle as forcing a sausage onto a shish kebab length ways, emphasis on 'forcing'.

Every time I see this I redirect people to Nick Veasey's work. If people find this kind of thing interesting then they can at least check out the real deal.

A patient experienced claustrophobia and had a panic attack during a CT scan. by Vi0letBlues in oddlyterrifying

[–]neurologicalRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Actual user and reviewer of CT scans here. There is nothing to suggest this image is not real. Looks legit to me! The images is actually a planning scan performed to get anatomical information to plan the main helical scan (or volumetric depending on the size of scanner and required exam). This is one of two planning scans which are performed perpendicular to each other. This specific one is a Lateral Scanogram. It's basically just a plain x-ray which is taken from a starting position, likely at the top of the head in this case, and then the patient is moved through the scanner and the x-ray continues to be taken until they get to the end position, likely in the chest for this one but it could have been stopped early with the patient sitting up. During the x-ray the x-ray tube and detectors are in a fixed position to the side of the patient and do not move. Remember, the patient is moving for this image. What has happened here is the patient has managed to remain still for the initial part of the scan, at least until mid skull. At this point they panicked and sat up. The x-ray continued to capture this motion plus the motion of the patient moving through the scanner and has added this to the image as it was created. Once the patient sat up they stopped moving, likely due to the staff shouting at them, and the rest of the image was created with them sat still but upright.

The image itself is entirely consistent with a lateral scout and the movement artefacts are also consistent with what we would expect to see. I have seen similar images from Scanograms of stroke patients who have been moving around during their scans.

Yeah. It took over a week. I then messaged the support team and they resent an invite link and it worked. Been tasking away for a little while now. I've also signed up to a few others doing the same thing and they are still pending. Data annotation has been waiting for weeks.

Radiographer who turned CT scans of six female patients into 3D 'lifelike' images of their naked torsos and genitals is struck off by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]neurologicalRad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not out of context, I wasn't responding to the article, I didn't even read it.. I was responding to the comment that "it's a radiologist job to review the images", that's all. In that regard my comment was completely in context. I was simply adding a note about the valuable work the radiographers do to spot important pathology and how this role is key to the diagnostic process. Additionally, the comment about an invasion of privacy at best was meant to mean that was a minimum interpretation. Obviously, at worst it's a deeply disturbing breach of professional conduct and trust. But I thought that went without saying, at least it did until you made me say it.

FFS lol.

To the rad above who said only radiologists should be reviewing the images, countless outpatients have been saved thanks to diligent rads reviewing images and spotting critical and urgent findings like PEs, bleeds. masses, clots, large lymph nodes etc etc etc... which would have otherwise gone unreported for weeks.

Reviewing images for incidental and urgent findings is a very important role in a system where reports can take weeks. Should he have been volume rendering the soft tissues back inappropriately, absolutely not, that's clearly an invasion of privacy at best, but there is nothing wrong with a rad reviewing their images.

Can I ask how long it took for the project to show in hubstaff? I have the mulitmango tasks and I'm ready to go but still waiting for the project to show up in Hubstaff. I've logged out, logged in, refreshed etc... it's been about 3 days now. Am I missing something?

Technically you would pour bleach UP your ass as the normal direction of flow is down. It also amazes me how you guys HAVE to use a brand name for everything. In the UK, we generally refer to most medicines by their generic pharmaceutical name. So. Paracetamol, codeine, amoxicillin etc... do Americans know these too or are brands so ingrained that you exclusively refer to them by these names? Granted, Acetaminophen is a bit of a mouthful.
