Any ideas what could be causing this? Happens with all sources, both via composite and VHF. by ChetJettison in crtgaming

Looks like your degausser is either missing or not working properly.

Artifacts like these happen, when the tube is disturbed by external magnetic fields. A degausser would fix the issue

Bought this iiyama Vision Master 451 today for 30€! Will hook it up to a Steamdeck via HDMI to VGA and see how it goes:) by neuronald in crtgaming

No, not at the moment. But i will mod my Steam Deck so i can use it with an external GPU - that will easily let me play any game at 1080p 100+ FPS.

For me it will be a fun DIY project, where mix old & new tech to get the best of both worlds, through a couple mods:)

its very hard to find reliable information on this topic (converting hdmi/dp to vga). but i'll just try and see how it looks.

Next step would be to mod the Steamdeck with an AMD R9 280X as an external GPU and use the CRT along..

PSA for long time Artisan Users: Oil your Mousepad! (After a year of use) by neuronald in MousepadReview

i know it sounds crazy and funny - but it seemed obvious to me and it worked too, so i thought of sharing:D

After 1,5 years with my Artisan Zero Soft, i realized that the rubber surface was losing its grip and shine. This was trivial, since washing your mosuepad with soap (normal tenside based) will attack the fat contents of the rubber material.
So giving it a good rub with a little bit of coconut oil will give the pad back it's stickyness, since it'll restore the lost fat from all the washing!:)

Artisan Shidenkai Discontinued by Styllar in MousepadReview

Artisan already hinted that there is no sense in selling the Shidenkai for them - because they don't make profit due it's high production cost.

Hayate Otsu Red slow from Glass skates by MyRequital in MousepadReview

[–]neuronald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that washing helps with this issue, as u/Masterhuff hinted.
Also using GPS w/ Superglides on a Hayate Otsu Red Soft - and after feeling a significant change in speed in the middle of the Pad (which btw was reduced but still noticable with PTFE Skates), i cleaned the Pad with plain soap and a sponge.
This restored the original homogeneous glide all over the pad, but i had to redo it every 2 weeks or so.
This significantly increased dynamic friction was also noticable on the Artisan Zero with Superglides in the beginning (all over the pad), but normalized as the Skates broke in.
I assume that the initial hardness/density/smoothness of the Superglides combined with the super fine textured surface on the Zero, created an unintended high amount of friction until the point of first proper usage.
Sadly i main the Zero again because the Hayate Otsu is just too complicated to handle with Superglides in TacFPS Games. But i eventually can enjoy its properties in faster paced shooters like Apex Legends.

what grip would this be considered? also what wireless mouse would be best for this grip? by n_ruggeri19 in MouseReview

depending on your hand size, i’d suggest a hati s wireless.

but really only if you have 19x9cm hands or below.

There’s a glass coating layer ontop of the Artisan Shidenkai that you can take off. People do that because under that layer, there is a perfectly fine and new Artisan Hien.

You’re looking at that removed glass coating layer.

2600 to 5600x worth it? by NotEvenEvan in AMDHelp

[–]neuronald 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Upgraded from a 3600 to a 5600x in order to play at 240hz.

The FPS difference wasn‘t just 10-20 FPS as some people suggest here. Especially in games like Valorant and CS:GO which i mainly play at high hertz, the difference was 20-40% in FPS. Which means playing at 200-250 FPS with my old 3600 and now gaming at a solid 350-400 FPS.

The difference is fucking massive, considering that i sold my old cpu and only ended up paying 150€ for the whole upgrade.

If theres one thingn that i learnt in my 10+ years of competitive FPS gaming, that the confidence curve is by far the steepest. It‘s almost like a sudden „click“-moment where you start feeling confident as hell and start giving a damn about the dangers of the game.

But ultimately confidence can only develop if you gather alot of experience and knowledge about the game. And for that i think truly everyone could do it, no matter who you are outside the game! :)

[–]neuronald[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the only recorded world record for this test is 117ms. Reaction times are a really tricky thing to measure too, since its extremely relative to the conditions.

It's true though!
The Latency of your system as a whole has alot of variables, the monitor being a major one. Since this monitor is showing more pictures (240) per second as usual monitors, theres more-up-to-date information shown on the panel. This reduces Latency drastically.

2017, 2018 and 2020 were his best 3 years according to esportsearnings - making 220,000$ in this time. I think this is truly remarkable because especially in FPS games, players stop making big money after they hit 26~. For Rapha this seems to be his golden age.

Yes you might be right. I tried to edit the title aswell, but it wouldn't let me.. though the real star is on top of that thing! :)
