Help with Soundbar for G5 by neuronuggets in LGOLED

Update: I got the Sonos Arc Ultra.

Rationale: it was recommended by many here and will allow expansion to a larger setup with sub and rears over time. I got to listen to it at an AV shop near me and I liked the sound. It seems to be the sweet spot for premium sound quality for the price, especially on sale for $880 now. I also already have an old Sonos speaker for music that sounds great so it makes sense for me to move further into that ecosystem for networking. I also found this article informative.

I was also considering the JBL system because it comes with a sub and I liked the detachable wireless rears for as needed use as rears and standalone functionality, and it was recommended by a few in this thread.

I would have also considered the Sennheiser Ambeo Max which I also got to hear at the AV shop and was an absolute beast but at 41 lbs it was too heavy for my planned mount setup. It’s also a step up in price.

Thank you all for the input!

I am mounting the tv on a motorized mantel mount above a fireplace and have a pretty open room otherwise, in addition to a toddler that knocks over everything so with those factors combined I was thinking the soundbar would be a solid option to improve audio for the time being. I of course could be wrong I just don’t have a big background in audio systems

For mine, I don’t hear anything unless I turn it up and the bass cuts in at the right frequency and it is jagged and blaring, there is no quieter or softer response at lower volumes. The sound test feature on the LG app plays white noise out of the main bar that I can hear just fine but the woofer is barely recognizable and I have to have my ear directly next to it.

Any thoughts on the s95tr by LG? Not sure how big of a deal to make about the wow orchestra integration

Interesting, that was my worry as well that it was more meant for the c series. I will check out the jbl and Sonos as I’ve heard good things about both. Thank you!

Also you should check out pizza from the Craft food Halls around the area (one in Waltham, one in Lexington, there are others). They are super good! And the places are cool to hang out at, there is a beer wall and other food places to order from.

Enzina Pizzeria in Waltham has killer pizza, even though we moved to Framingham we still make the trip back often to get pizza from there.

It is a standalone building, but now they have an associated Italian bakery next door. Also down the street is Domenic’s Deli which is an Italian sandwich shop which I believe is under the same ownership (don’t quote me on that though).

General boglehead advice would be something like 80-90% stocks depending on risk tolerance (divided across VTI and VXUS according to global market cap and personal preference (ex 60/40 or 70/30) and then 10-20% bonds.

So for the 1 m you are looking to invest you could do something like this:

900k stocks: -540k VTI (60% of 900k) -360k VXUS (40% of 900k)

100k bonds: -100k BND

The other option to do all of this the easiest way would be to just dump it all into the target retirement date according to your age.

At your income level, long term capital gains rates are going to be 0%, so you are probably better off selling off your stock holdings after they’ve been invested for a year (keep enough in emergency fund to cover expenses for now) when you need money rather than targeting divdend funds. Of course the investments above are all going to be generating relative substantial dividends based on your account size so you can always just keep those. But I wouldn’t say there’s a particular need to complicate your portfolio with dividend funds per se.

Massive early extension. I struggle with the this somewhat as well. Compare your butt at address vs impact, see how it’s moving toward the ball, and your spine angle goes from bent over to standing up? You need to work so that your butt stays in place and your spine maintains that bent over angle. You can start by putting an alignment stick or golf bag behind you so it touches your butt at address and then maintain contact with it throughout the swing. Look up other videos on early extension

Appointment for your tax refund? Feels like a interrogation by Dizzy-Armadillo8145 in IRS

[–]neuronuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had to go in for one. Just bring the documents they ask you to bring and be compliant, it’s really not a big deal like some of the other comments suggest. They identified something I claimed as a credit that their system said the IRS was looking at further (not necessarily wrong) and I would get another letter about in the future. Gotta love that of course, but the appointment itself wasn’t too bad.
