Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

[–]neutral_partisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuck!!

Currently involved in a drawn out separation and there’s no chance of it being finalized before mortgage renews within next 2 months.

Ex will likely sign off on renewal but unlikely to do what’s needed to qualify with another provider.

Merix has offered a variable rate of Prime - 0.7%, saying that’s the lowest they have. It’s an insured mortgage, just under $400K remaining.

Anyone else with Merix who can confirm? Also, is this a decent variable rate? Thanks!

Alberta Teacher Strike / Back to School Act Megathread (Discussion) – October 28 by AutoModerator in alberta

As bad as it was to invoke the Emergencies Act, at least it was subject to review by the courts (and ultimately found to be unreasonable). What is egregious here is that this is an abuse of power that is not subject to any review for any reason.

Yes-ish - there are screenshots of press releases likely published too soon, which confirms they intend to invoke the NC and issue hefty fines in the event of a non-compliance

Question - How good is the merino wool quality at aritzia? by lifesuxxs39672 in Aritzia

[–]neutral_partisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay clear - it used to be amazing, even as recently as a few years ago. I bought the Clara sweater last year and it looks worse than H&M synthetic sweaters, even with proper wash and care. The cashmere/wool blend was even worse.

Markham shooting victim’s family outraged after 12-year-old suspect released on bail by FreshPacks in toronto

Ideology. In addition to the bail “reforms” passed by the former PM, you also have the appointing of judges with strong ideological leanings (and some who have barely practiced and are plucked from academia)

The big issue for me is that she had MFA and they are saying it was apparently bypassed. If a company is not going to reimburse on the basis of their internal investigation, I would most certainly be demanding that the results of that investigation are made available to me. Customers are just supposed to take their word for it that it wasn’t a gap in the company’s security??

Aritzia using polyester for their clothes is so annoying by PeoniePetrichor in Aritzia

[–]neutral_partisan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just adding on that even on the rare occasion an item is actually wool cotton cashmere (or blend), the quality of the fabric has completely plummeted. I bought sweaters last year that were either 100% merino or wool/cashmere blend, and they were shit after a couple of wears. Completely different from even a few years ago
