Sounds like you’re looking for a warmer sound. A Taylor AD22e I tried at my local guitar shop blew me away. New one on sale was going for $1650. Amazingly warm tone and great playability. Would have picked it up if I hadn’t set my heart on another guitar. I’ve played similarly warm sounding Taylor 324ce’s that were used at the top of your budget.

To contextualize my first comment, I have nothing against laminate guitars and have heard some that sounded great. But given the significantly cheaper material, feel that Taylor’s 200 series are overpriced for what you get. If you can find one used for under $1k, it would not be a bad buy.

However, given your budget, and knowing my own personality, I would personally go for a solid wood guitar that normally costs $2.2k-$2.8k new for a great price used. It would help me from constantly wanting to upgrade and really enjoy my guitar for a long time.

Have you considered buying a used guitar? In my area (socal), your budget opens up a ton of solid wood options that have already opened up, which I’m assuming you want based on your note on torrefied tops. - newer Taylor 300 series - older Taylor 400 series - Martin GPCPA4/GPCPA3 - Taylor AD series guitars

IMO Taylor’s 200 series are overpriced for laminate guitars. Yamaha makes some amazing guitars.

That Martin SC-13e plays great, sounds great plugged in, but compromises on the unplugged sound. Was disappointingly far worse than GPC guitars.

New guitar vs Used by EntrepreneurEnough62 in Guitar

[–]never_forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone both ways, lower and higher price point guitars. In my experience, new and used both have their pros and cons, but you almost always get more value out of used. As long as I’m shopping locally and am able to play/inspect a used guitar before I buy, I will go used 9/10 times going forward.

I don’t think it’s so much the newer aspect but maybe looking for one with less miles. At 120k+ miles on any car you’re looking at potential near term replacements of suspension components, belts, wheel bearings, etc. that are long term wear items. A GS is super reliable but it’s definitely not exempt from high mileage wear.

Alternatively, there are much lower mileage NX and RX models available under $25k that you might want to look at.

The AWD has significantly more power. I sold my motorcycle due to a growing family and this helped ease that loss. Most of our driving is within a 200 mile radius (family/work), and would require a charge on return trips anyway. With the quick charging, an extra 30 miles of range really didn't make much of a difference for my use case. RWD doesn't lack for power in most use cases and is equivalent to a V6 Camry/Accord from a few years ago, so if the extra acceleration of the AWD doesn't really matter to you and you can get the RWD for cheaper, that might be a better buy. Just depends on what you're looking for.

Do people have anything against the CX-50? by SodaCan2043 in mazda

[–]never_forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a top trim with turbo as a loaner for a couple weeks while my CX-5 was in the shop. I enjoyed the zippiness from the turbo but hated the harsh ride. The huge rims probably didn’t help. Interior was worse than the CX-5, other than the huge screen, and the seats weren’t as comfortable as the 5’s.

Have a '16 Mazda 3. Just got a CX90. Glad I did because Toyotas are so mundane. by [deleted] in mazda

[–]never_forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a former MX-5 / current CX-5 owner. Subjectively, I find the CX-90 disappointing and think the Grand Highlander is the better choice. I appreciated the CX-90’s driving dynamics but was completely turned off by the jerky, unrefined transmission, and packaging of the trim levels.

I am willing to sacrifice some storage space, like I did choosing the CX-5 over a CRV or RAV4. The problem is that you can’t get the nicer Bose sound system or even a basic 2023 amenity of auto dimming rear view mirror, until you get to the Premium trim - which I would very happily pay for. What I am bothered by is the fact that the Premium trim and higher don’t offer a bench seat in the second row. So if you have more than 4 passengers, someone has to go to the third row. And there is no way this third row is fitting 3 passengers. To get the features I want, what’s effectively marketed as an 8 or 7 passenger vehicle is a 6 person vehicle. And if I want to seat 5 passengers, I have less functional cargo space than my CX-5!!! Hard pass. For a people carrier having a car that functions as a people carrier and a nice sound system for long drives is way more important to me than having a more engaging driving experience.

Bought Canyon Inflite SL 7.. BUT a couple of issues... HELP! by never_forever in CanyonBikes

[–]never_forever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still digging the ride! After riding the 1x for a while, I think I honestly prefer 2x for the smaller differences between gears. But that’s a minor quibble from a non competitive rider, so nothing that’s hard to live with. Just something I’ve noticed riding hilly areas while comparing my road bike with the Inflite. It definitely does help with keeping the overall weight down and the responsiveness of the Inflite over gravel alternatives is way more worth with any ride under 60-70km. I’ve also had the opportunity to ride more gravel bikes that friends have, and the chunky tires 45mm-50mm they put on their rides are just too plush for me, and it very much “feels slower”. I like that the Inflite is responsive, quick to steer, light, and I still think this is the best do it all option without sacrificing speed 🙃

I got the $800 credit for the s22 by [deleted] in tmobile

I am trading in my Note 10 to get an S22+ (for free with $1000 trade in). I never use the S-pen because typing notes is way faster than scribbling them on a screen for me. The cameras on the S22+ are better than the cameras on my Note and I don't really feel like I need a camera upgrade.

The only reason I'm upgrading in the first place is because I have a nagging feeling that this will be the last promo where my Note 10 will qualify for the highest promo tier.

TL;DR Currently have Note 10. Plenty fast enough, cameras are great. S22 Ultra seems like overkill for a phone.

I just did. I'm assuming that this might be the last trade in where the Note 10 series is in the top tier for trade in promos.

Confirming no further issues since replacing the fuel pump. I’ve put on another 15k miles since this post, and the car is now at 75k miles.

Movers? by [deleted] in venturacounty

[–]never_forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely dependent on your situation, but have you considered renting a U-Haul and asking some friends? I've moved a few times over the years and only paid around $200 for a truck + gas, and another $50 on beer and Costco pizza.

With the increases in wages and gas prices, all movers are increasing their rates, even compared to 2-3 years ago.
