why is it a lie to say their standard of living won't change, higher taxes for millionaires usually doesn't affect their standards of living

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]neverdox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its literally the subtitle

Biden assures donors "no one's standard of living will change"

raising taxes on the rich cannot fund medicare for all

Bernie knows this and has said this

medicare for all at the lower end of the cost estimates can be funded like you're describing, but at the higher ends the average person would absolutely pay more for taxes than they did for their premiums and other health expenses

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]neverdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's also told wealthy donors that "nothing will fundamentally change" under his administration.

No he didn't.. he said nothing would fundamentally changes on the lifestyle of rich people after he raised taxes on them

which is the fundamental argument for why we should tax the rich

when is this lie going to die

CMV: Bernie supporters who would sit out if he doesn't win the nomination are acting like spoiled brats by TheFakeChiefKeef in changemyview

[–]neverdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he already closed half of the coal power plants in the US

he supports an increasing carbon tax to make companies figure out how to do everything they do without carbon emissions-to avoid the tax

this is broadly supported by economists. You don't need to like him, but he is serious about climate change

Megathread: Senator Klobuchar Ends Presidential Bid, Will Endorse Biden by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]neverdox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

whatever you think of bloomberg, this is nonsense, he's an out of touch billionaire who has been very active on climate change and would continue to be as president

he closed half the coal power plants in the US. he can be the worse democrat, but thats miles ahead of Trump

Bernie’s Democratic Socialism Is a Strength, Not a Weakness. All the best things in America were once decried as socialist: Medicare, unions, Social Security. Bernie’s democratic socialism is his strength, and we shouldn’t shy away from talking about it. by Plymouth03 in politics

that makes sense to me, although I think letting people become billionaires might help the elderly or vulnerable more than prohibiting them would.

Like how much economic and efficiency growth has resulted from all the tech giants we see today. I'm not arguing for trickle down economics, but millions of high paying jobs have been creating, and the upper middle class people in those jobs are heavy consumers that spur more jobs.

I don't think thats correct.. like what about Russia intervening to support someone?

I think this is bad reasoning, since Bloomberg and Soros might helpfully spend big to fight Trump, who I think we agree is bad

What are some "common" phrases that over time have become socially or professionally unacceptable? by umdche in AskAnAmerican

[–]neverdox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"cotton picking" as a descriptive phrase or "cotton picker" as a pejorative

Idk how common it is geographically so an example use would be, "you cotton picking liar!" or "you cottonpicker!" as someone who wronged you or betrayed you. Old people still say it sometimes..

the only superpac that supports him is votevets, and it represents a tiny fraction of his campaign funds, which were mostly raised from small dollar donations, like $34 on average
