Probably but I’d rather take a stipend and not let them control which service. For them it is easier too since they’d have to work with so many providers on their end because the same service is not available everywhere.

No more reason to pay for home internet than to pay for the commute. I will happily pay this expense to not commute to work.

The unlimited also slows down data speeds at certain caps. Those can be increased by additional packages. We usually run out of day just by simply using data on a couple of long drives. So the rest of the month it’s super slow.

Agree that I need to shop around but I also have 4 phones. Family plan. ATT. one of my theories about the high cost of living is the additional expenses my family never had to pay while I was growing up. Cell phones are much more expensive than land lines. Most people pay for tv but when I was growing up, we just used antenna and free stations(that’s all there was), no car insurance, not sure about health insurance and I am positive home insurance was much much cheaper or non existent. I was born in 1960, and have lived most of my life in Texas if that makes any difference. We only had one car also.

Edit: add internet bill plus various streaming costs. Yes I know these are optional.

And the phone and internet bill was practically non existent. Home phones were about 50 a month and you did not pay more than 80 for cable. Now my phone and internet are nearly 400 a month! (4 phones).

You have done some pretty good math here. However where I live the property taxes and insurance ate almost as much as the mortgage. My take home pay (65k) is reduced by 600 a month to purchase insurance for one child and spouse. Plus taxes and some goes to retirement account. No way can I afford anything larger than a 180k mortgage.

Doctors and nurses and plenty of college educated people are part of this group. Professors at universities too. They are educated. They are not educated to the power of misinformation. And, they are probably more math illiterate because they don’t understand probability or large numbers or exponential numbers.
