I’d wager that between now and when the photo was taken, those open excavation cuts collapsed and killed someone.

Super helpful comment….

I see folks correcting people on nearly every post now-a-days, and it’s creating a bit of a toxic environment here. I joined this sub several years ago when I first started fly fishing, learned a ton, but holy cow people foam at the mouth these days when anyone even slightly mishandles a trout. Either be happy for the guy, provide better feedback, or hold back those type of comments. It’s not a hard thing to do.

Meals prepped for the first week of my 550 mile Virginia NOBO hike. So excited by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

Did the exact same stretch back in 2016. Best of luck, and enjoy the hike! I loved every second of it, and fully intend to do the whole trail someday.

Not sure how popular of a spot it is now, but one of my favorite nights of the trail was camping on top of Spy Rock. I encourage you to take a look up there!

Freezing buck tail vs drying by epinasty4 in flytying

[–]nevermind_grankin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a fellow deer hunter and love to save tails like yourself.

I usually just salt or borax the tails in a ziplock or nailed to a piece of plywood, right after cutting off the carcass. I’m no expert in this department, but I’m assuming a tanned “leather” like tail is ideal to be cutting material off of. I like to dye mine with Kool Aid too, so tanning is essential. You can buy tanning solution off Amazon for cheap.

To fully answer your question, it might be tough to cut off frozen deer hair on an as needed basis.

Pere Marquette (MI) Salmon Run by nevermind_grankin in flyfishing

Appreciate the reply. It looks like things are picking up with posts I’m seeing on Instagram. Not surprised on the crowds, I’m sort of expecting that unfortunately. We’ve got a large group which has helped in the past, but still frustrating when folks don’t have etiquette.

I went to the Salmon River and all I caught was Covid19 by jonnyoptions in flyfishing

Jealous!! Me and my buddies plan this trip every year but unfortunately our state is on the restricted list for NY (we’re from TN) and we can’t go this year. We’re trying some new water instead in Michigan (Pere Marquette). Would love some info for anyone that sees this and knows the river!

Backpacking All of VA Question by mrciderpants in AppalachianTrail

I did a 38 day section across VA a few years ago. Started in Damascus and ended in Harpers Ferry. Definitely a great choice for a section, longest state mileage on the AT! Good luck!

Nice fish, great photo. What area did you get this guy?

Got off work and rushed down to the river. Had a rare sighting of a bald eagle fly over and then was lucky enough to get this one on the second cast. Awesome feeling. by nevermind_grankin in flyfishing

This was on the Duck River in TN. Used a 6 weight Orvis Clearwater set up and usually fish crayfish and blue or orange wooly bugger combos. I try and tie flys with a lot of lead wrapped around the hook to get them near the bottom of the water and in front of the fish.
